Music Showcase / High Quality Music Packs for DOS Games
« on: August 02, 2012, 08:39:14 pm »
I have completely converted the songs from Doom 1, Doom 2, and Final Doom: TNT Evillution into a modern sounding soundtrack!

If you have any other hi-res/hi-quality music for old games (No MIDI or MUS files, they're not high-quality, unless you want people to compare the old music to the hi-res music) post it on the forums please.

I will post the links for the Doom when i finish uploading the zips to my website.

Even though I just started playing Doom last year, I have a false nostalgia when I think about the 1990s and all of the games that came out.  I call it false nostalgia because I was not born until the end of the 90s, in '99.

TI-Nspire / Re: GBA emulator?
« on: July 24, 2012, 06:08:29 pm »
It looks pretty good! I am curious how well it would run on my touchpad nspire though. It has a minimal amount of RAM and that grayscale screen. I think i would rather have it on my CX. :P
Well, as I mentioned in another topic, only the CX is supported anyway (mainly because of the larger RAM). It's also nice to be able to overclock higher.

Awww, this means that I can't try it out on nspire_emu. I don't have a cx, but maybe I can beg my parents for one for Geometry. Preferably a CX CAS.

ROM Hacking and Console Homebrew / Re: Any Atari 2600 Programmers?
« on: June 05, 2012, 11:55:10 am »
You mean like people who make roms to run with emulators? I don't think I would want to learn how to program on an old game system. It's too complicated, much more difficult than today's game programming.

ROM Hacking and Console Homebrew / WiiBrew: DOSBox on the Wii
« on: June 05, 2012, 11:48:07 am »
Guys, I recently installed the homebrew channel on my wii. If you don't already know, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall has been released as freeware by Bethesda Softworks. So, I downloaded it onto my sd card so I could run it using DOSBox, on my wii. But, when I try to mount my sd card in DOSBox on my wii, it said that there was no such directory as "sd:\". So, I downloaded another copy of wii dosbox, and I needed a usb keyboard. So, after I get a keyboard, Daggerfall keeps on saying "Looks like you inserted the wrong cd rom. Please insert your Daggerfall cd rom into the cd rom drive." The thing is, I don't have a Daggerfall cd rom, and I don't think DOSBox will be able to read the cd rom on my wii. All of the files are on my sd card. Please help me!
Also, I keep getting the same error message on the pc, so it is not my wii's fault. HELLPPPP!

News / Re: Mod your Nspire prototypes into real Nspire, at last!
« on: March 26, 2012, 07:30:46 pm »
Hmmm... I wonder if that would work. I don't know, and I don't want to break my nspire trying to test that theory out.

What I hate about the nspire os is that I can't delete any components from it. 7zip keeps on giving me the error, "Not implimented." Why is this?

Yeah, you should consider moving it since now you found out how to make sprites.

Looks like I have pretty much found out how to do everything I need except the railgun. I did the handrails at school, but they are in my home(H:) drive which I can't access from home. They are fully-automatic, dual-wield, handheld railguns. They fire bullets containing a corrosive plasma substance. The bullets burst open on impact, and the plasma burns whatever it touches. I got the burning plasma idea from Doom and Halo.

I found out how a plasma gun works. The plasma is hot ionized gas which is launched, therefore making it the plasma gun. The BFG 9000 and the plasma gun from Doom are examples of these. The Plasma pistol and plasma rifle from Halo are also examples of these.

I had the great idea to make a gun in my game which would force the ionized gas into a "capsule bullet". The bullet would have to be made out of some easily broken material. So there, we have two handheld railguns that shoot exploding plasma bullets. Not only will the enemy feel pain like a regular bullet shot, but they will also have plasma microwaving them from the inside. Pleasant thought, isn't it?  :) :( *.* D: XD  ;)

Yeah, I just love the warm feeling I get on my insides when I think about that! Makes me smile just picturing it in my mind!

Oh yeah, I'm not really new to omni. I just joined. I don't want to make any games or anything, I just like to get games for my calculator. I just joined so I could chat and give suggestions about games and programs.

Oh, hi. When I joined omni, I felt the same way, but now I feel involved in the community here.

Shouldn't this be in Pixel Art and Drawing subforum?

I don't know how to move a topic. Can you tell me how, or move it for me?

General Calculator Help / Stolen touchpad...
« on: March 26, 2012, 06:07:31 pm »
Are the documents and the os on my nspire stored on the nspire or on the touchpad? Someone stole my touchpad, and I want to make sure that I don't get secretly upgraded when I get a new touchpad. I will try to find it before I buy a new one, but I think that it is stolen.

I made the knife sprite too. It seems that knives are the only sprites that I can do well. I tried to make the railgun, but I utterly failed. Here's the knife (You can also download it at the bottom):

Sorry if it looks jagged, I had to enlarge it in mspaint to keep it from looking pixelated, and it made it look distorted kinda.

I made my first pixel art sprites. They're a ballistic knife(right knife) and a throwing knife(the left knife). Here they are:
Here is a large image:

And here's an image that's not so pixelated (smaller image):

I just found my new talent!

Sorry for Double posting, but I just found out how to make my own sprites using pixel art. I never knew this before, but I found out how to do pixel art using mspaint. I made ballistic knive sprites. The right knife is the ballistic knife, and the left knife is a throwing knife.

Here is a large image:

And here's an image that's not so pixelated (smaller image):

Wow, I didn't think I could do this, but I did! I don't know how I had the patience to place down pixel by pixel. I guess I did it a little at a time!

I will eventually change the throwing knife to another ballistic knife for dual wielding, but for now, I am proud with what I have!
Question: How do I find the coordinates of the pixels? I am eventually going to port this game to pc c, and nspire c, letting the game be in c and flash, so it might help to use nRGBlib. It allows the placement of pixels, but I have to know the coordinates and exact colors of each one. Maybe I should have found that out while I was doing the knife sprites.

Since this is your school project shouldn't you be doing this yourself? I don't think it's very likely that someone will contribute to something that you're doing for school and are going to be graded on. Not to mention that the style of sprites you're asking for sound fairly complex. You're also asking for 2d sprites, but saying you need them in first person. This suggests a 3d game and makes the request very confusing. In the future you might also want to give a ballpark figure of what sprite sizes you are going to need.
Our teacher doesn't care about sprites as long as the animation is good. I found some sprites on the internet and I am using them. She lets us use sprites off of the internet, and other places. Besides, I am not just making the game for school, I am making it for fun also. So, even after I turn this game in, I will still probably work on it. I plan to remake this game using id software's id tech 4 engine, the engine that was used to make doom 3.

What I mean by first-person is, Doom is not an actual 3D game. Doom is a semi-3D game, therefore making the sprites within doom 2D. So, what I mean by 2D sprites is, sprites that look as if they were first person, but are really hand-drawn, like the sprites in Doom.

I am trying to draw some of the sprites I listed above, but they look nothing like sprites that would be in a video game. I am trying to make this game original also, while using sprites from Doom and Duke nukem, etc. I am a pretty good artist, but I don't know how to draw things in color and still have them look well. I can pretty much only draw black and white sprites, and I still don't know how to apply shading to the sprites to have them look realistic.

@saintrunner
Also, I don't want one person to do all of these sprites by them self! You'd be doing too much work!
