Title: [Feature] Requestable post edit notifications
Post by: Runer112 on March 01, 2014, 02:33:53 pm
It has always bothered me a bit that Cemetech echoes post notifications in chat whenever I make a small edit to touch up some wording or spelling. And on the flip side, it bothers me that I can make a substantial edit on Omnimaga without people noticing it.

What if a checkbox was added to the edit screen that allowed you to specify that an edit is an important edit? If it is unchecked, the edit goes through with no notification in any chat; if it is checked, an edit notification is produced, and perhaps the thread is also bumped.

If such a thing is added then not before the switching to SMF2.x

It would be nice if it was added. Just make sure to add flood control so it only notifies of an edit if none was done in the last 10 minutes and let the user choose if he wants to disable it.

It would also reduce double/multi-posting after only a few hours.

I like how you phrased that and bumping should only be allowed by the topic starter in my opinion but yeah definitely going to have to be for smf2 maybe we can have a mod up for it cause I agree it would be nice to have

Yeah I meant topic bumps by topic starter mostly, especially project updates. Sometimes I have a big project update after only a few hours of progress but want the users to know, especially if it's an important bug fix release. Advertising new posts yourself on OmnomIRC is not allowed, although sometimes tolerated, but if people start doing it too much, then new users join the bandwagon and it gets annoying.

True, but not everyone pays attention to that channel and some of the less active users will usually only be in #omnimaga on IRC. :P

I really mean when people were like "wow such ignore much anti-newbie wow" when they didn't get any reply to their newest post within the first two minutes after posting it. I think we even had an user threatening to leave over it O.O
