Title: 50
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on November 19, 2010, 05:09:52 pm
50 topics loading faster or 100 topics loading slower/hogging old computers a bit more?

50 should be nice, 100 topics would be not only be slower, but also be overly long...

50 topics per page? Yeah, I guess that's good. :)

Ah ok.

Well, until about July 2010, I think, or maybe before, the topic pages showed 100 topics per page, then it was lowered to 50 to reduce 500 Internal Server errors, which worked, although the forum activity increased later, so errors started again. On the new host, 100 would be OK, but it may take a bit longer to load on old computers. From people point of view, I guess we're letting things as they are, then.

Yep, same here. 100 would be too long of a list to navigate, and it's not that hard to get to the next page. Plus, it would discourage massive necros ;D

I personally liked 100 because you did not need to go through more pages to search an old topic, and I liked to use CTRL+F to search a word in the page, but otherwise it gets a bit hectic to read. Also I didn't think about necroposting X.x

Yeah, 50 is fine.  If that is what it is now, that is.  I currently like how it is.
