Title: Google search ranking up?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on March 30, 2010, 12:29:38 pm
We never managed to get high rankings again in Google from TI-83 Plus RPG search (we were first), like we did before the Invisionfree days, but we sure risen for other stuff.

Here are search queries I did through Google and where Omnimaga was first listed. I would not be surprised if other people got different results, as they vary from a country to another, sometimes, but here we go!

(Red: July 20th 2010 update)
-Ndless: 8th 4th
-Ndless TI-Nspire: 3rd 1st!
-gbc4nspire: 1st! 3rd D:
-TI-Boy SE: 3rd 3rd
-game boy emulator calculator: 18th 15th D:
-gameboy emulator calculator: 16th 12th
-game boy emulator TI-84: 15th 12th
-gameboy emulator TI-84: 13th 11th
-calculator RPG: 4th 3rd
-calculator RPGs: 1st! 1st!
-ti-83 plus RPG: 11th 13th D:
-ti-83 plus RPGs: 12th 15th D:
-ti-84 plus RPG: 13th 24th D:
-ti-84 plus RPGs: 12th 18th D:
-TI-84+ RPG: 18th 10th
-ti-nspire hacking: 25th 18th
-ti-nspire cracking: 1st! 5th D:
-F-Zero ti-83: 5th 2nd
-F-Zero ti-84: 2nd 5th D:
-Lobster: 1st!... j/k XD

Basically, anything showing up in the first 10 positions will show up on first search results page for most people, since it's Google's default settings.

I excluded rankings where it leads to the old Omnimaga site from 2004-early 05

Good rankings. Axe Parser is the 2nd in Google. The 1st one is curious.

I tend to see always the first page of Google results. Rarely I go to the 2nd or 3rd one. Only when I am desperate I go further.

Be the first in TI-83 Plus RPG was a nice mark.

Oh right I forgot about Axe Parser. I guess it's cuz it,s barely referenced anywhere else since no version are avaliable at ticalc.org.

Nice list!  I can see some time was spent compiling this. Thanks DJ! :)  Nice ratings! ;D

oh it was not too long, I just did some quick google searches and whenever something showed up in the first few pages I noted it. I am sure there are more searches that can potentially bring people here, though. I was really surprised at Ndless and Nspire cracking results, though.

I updated the first post with the new results, in red.

To add to them, Axe parser is still first, despite being discussed on Ticalc.org, TI-BANK, UTI and Cemetech too, now.

1st for Axiom SDK (bit specific, though).

Good rankings. Axe Parser is the 2nd in Google. The 1st one is curious.

Just wondering: What was originally first?

I am wondering too. I don't remember checking. Axe was not on ticalc back then and neither on Cemetech either. I wonder if it might have been a Youtube link?

Might be this, though: http://www.axeuk.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=489

Still seems interesting.

Maybe, idk x.x. It would most likely have needed to have "Axe Parser" in the title or in the text somewhere, though, I think.

-calculator RPG: 4th 3rd
-calculator RPGs: 1st! 1st!
Pals, start using more RPG instead of RPGs. j/k

-F-Zero ti-83: 5th 2nd
-F-Zero ti-84: 2nd 5th D:
Funny, it exchanged.

More seriously, I will try to give other ranks with different key words soon. There are some key words I would like to test like:
calculator games, calculator development, TI-BASIC, calculator help...

Nleash: 3rd
Omnimaga: 1st! :) Well, duh.

I think calculator programming won't even come in the first 10 pages, but I could be wrong. I would need to check again, because our traffic still seems to increase even thought it's Summer (and we're in the most inactive part of it).

Sorry to tell you this, but Omni's doesn't appear in the first 70 pages (first 697 entries) for calculator programming. :( I just checked. Google doesn't even display the pages after that; instead, it asks if I want it to show the omitted (similar) pages.

EDIT: If you put "calculator programming" in quotes, Omni appears as #297. I actually haven't ever seen the words "calculator programming" used together in exact form anywhere in this site except in this topic, though.

Ouch, I guess it might be something widely used or we are not refered to for calc programming. It seems that more specific stuff works

if you search Calc programming though, were 7th.  This just shows how lazy we are.  XD

:-\ We must be using too many abbrev's. Every1 use long words!

hypocrite...  j/k  But I really think we should, since most beginning calculator gamers search calculator games and not calc games.  :)

We're number one for 'eat nethams'. :)

we're also no. 1 for Netham45 explodes.  second is an IRC log saying Netham Explodes onna ztrumpet.  lol
btw, google knows netham!  I searched Nethm45 explodes and it said did you mean Netham45 explodes?
Title: Re: Google search ranking up?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 30, 2010, 02:28:08 pm
it's kinda weird that with Netham45 alone, we don't even show up on the first 9000 pages...
Title: Re: Google search ranking up?

How did you figure that out? 9,000 pages can get tedious.
Title: Re: Google search ranking up?
Post by: Deep Toaster on July 31, 2010, 12:07:10 am
I don't think Google even allows that many pages, however many results there are. Unless you clicked the "Show omitted results" link :) If you actually did go through them, though...
Title: Re: Google search ranking up?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 31, 2010, 02:24:37 am
I was kidding :P. I just checked through as many pages as I could then gave up :P
Title: Re: Google search ranking up?
Post by: Deep Toaster on July 31, 2010, 03:24:42 am
:D And just a tip for anyone who actually wants to try: Set the number of results per page to 100. It goes a lot faster.

EDIT: 333 posts! (>:D/2)

EDIT2: Imagine 666-42-1337 as an SSN ;D

Yeah I do that for long Google searches, else it takes friggin long sometimes, especially when I am torrenting stuff :P

Dropped to #5 for both "gbc4nspire" and "ti-boy se". We're #1! for "casio prizm hacking", though (and #4 for "prizm hacking").

EDIT: And, of course, #1! for "ndoom," thanks to Mrakoplaz!

EDIT2: And #5 for "axe parser."

EDIT3: And #1! for "omnimaga"... No way :P
Title: Re: Google search ranking up?

we're number 3 for Axe Parser...

For me it's #3 too but I heard results can be different depending of where you live. TI-Nspire CX used to make us come first until it came out and many sites newsed about it. Remember how we got many guests in the news section the other day. :P

TI NSpire CX, we're not even on the 1st page now, nor Cemetech :S

I found us at the bottom of it actually. FOr me we're 10th. I guess Cemetech is not far behind because when we were 1st they were right behind.

ti-nspire: 28th
ti nspire: 28th
Casio Prizm: 26th
ti-nspire cx: 29th
ti-84+ games: 34th
ti-84 games: 34th
casio prizm games: 1st
ti-nspire games: 2nd

I think that's pretty good for some of these broad themes. O.O
