Title: Have links in omnom not open in a new tab by default?
Post by: squidgetx on November 04, 2012, 04:05:53 pm
I always end up with like 50 omni tabs open, then I have to close them all. And if someone wants to open in a new tab, that's what the middle mouse button/ctrl-click is for. Thoughts on this, anyone?

Browsers will do this because the link is on another domain. You might be able to force it though with some code.
Can't check now, as I'm about to go and sleep.

OmnomIRC actually checks for whether to open in a new tab or not, links on omnimaga.org and omniurl.tk opens in same tabs and the rest in a new tab, Netham just didn't added ourl.ca to the list when we switched to it.

Normally OmnomIRC stayed in the same tab when clicking an Omni link or an Omni URL link, but I'm unsure if that changed. ALl I know is that external links are supposed to open in a new tab like when putting them in posts, though, so that people don't constantly inadverdently lose their only Omni tab open and stuff like that like on Wikipedia.

By the way it would be nice if the affiliate links on the front page opened in a new window/tab.
