Title: IE6
Post by: Netham45 on September 08, 2008, 01:30:00 pm
Ok, at school we have IE6. This looks horrible in IE6, there are random page breaks. A big one at the top, too.

I think SMF stopped supporting IE6 and the CSS we use uses a lot of stuff not compatible with IE6, so you need either Firefox of Opera to browse the site. IE7 might work fine but there are display problems still in the topics bottom and a nearly unnoticeable while line below the banner. It's something I am unable to fix, it would have to be someone with very good HTML/PHP/CSS knowledge who would have to do it. I really need to add a "Best viewed in Opera and Firefox" notice at the bottom of the page x.x. Sorry for that

We have IE6 too but my solution is to d/l FF3.0.1 and install on a drive they give to the students 'U:\'  :D

Oh, the avatars did that in Firefox/Opera too on my other SMF board when I had no limit for avatar size, it's to prevent stretching post pages. However, the big problem with IE is that it seems to requires avatars to be smaller than in other browsers to display with no scroll bars. THere's also problems in IE8 and there were some in IE7. IE8 is still in beta, though.

I personally think that IE8 has been a step back from IE7, it seems more like IE6, to me.

true, the last beta showed improvements but for some reasons I prefered IE7. At least Omnimaga showed fine at 99% in IE7

Really not much to do about supporting IE 6, it's pretty outdated. :(. Tell your school to "Get with the program!"
