I was wondering which software did you prefered, feature wise and not skin wise? Personally i prefer Zetaboards because the skinning system is more customisable, it has much better and easier to use Moderator abilities and some more features. Only thing I don't like is when I want to go to the Admin CP, instead of opening a new tab automatically it opens it into the current tab. It can be annoying if I need to edit something on the board and test.
I know not everyone signed up on the temp board but I was wondering what the current members thought? Because when the old board is back up we may switch to Zetaboards. Please note that no posts will be lost in the process

I really like the way zeta boards look, and it seems as if there are a couple more options on zetaboards than invisionfree and it is just as easy to navigate. That's my oppinon anyways. :) I definitley have to agree with everyone else about the smileys though, I like the old ones over zetaboards default smileys. :p

well, technically we're supposed to keep the old smileys, but i think zb upgrade will wipe them out, so I may have to readd them again

I think we should go with Zetaboards it just seems nicer and A new look will be nice for omnimaga.

I with DJ on the ACP thing, it can be a tad bit annoying. I think we need to skin Zetaboards up nicely and how it really looks.

Well all your really have to do is remeber to right click it when you want to go there and I'm sure there is a way to change it once we get more aquainted to zb.

We will go back to the old skin. However I may be changing some minor stuff. DJ Omnimaga (http://s1.zetaboards.com/omnimaga/profile/14293/) makes sure to shun IE6 users first tho

The old invisionfree default is too blocky. The new zetaboards default is too bulky...
From what I've seen of zetaboards though, it has better options. I just need to learn how to navigate them all again.

What i noticed so far is that it seems slower than when we were on Invisionfree, but i think that's because a lot of people are rushing to make Zetaboards forums to try it out so there's an overload of traffic on the server. On top of that I think that it's hosted on the first invisionfree server ever, which have the main support boards, so it's an old computer with probably a much slower processor

But, I dislike the way Zetaboards handles posting when you aren't logged in.

The only thing that really annoys me about zeta(asides from the theme/smileys) is the way it handles replies when you are not logged in. Instead of presenting a login box, it posts,

i like zetaboard's features, though I wish we could still get skins. oh well, not much you can do about it for now.

Zeta seems like a upgrade for sure, but I would to see some things worked on before a switch.

well the arcade seems to have problems, the shoutbox doesnt work anymore, but i think games still works. I'll put it back when the old site is back

Well last year I remember IF staff saying that Zetaboards would only be IE7, Opera and Firefox compatible. It will be compatible with others, but not IE6, because of the limited CSS capabilities. At least IE7 CSS comaptibility isn't that bad so if something is different in it it will prbly be something so minor that no one will notice

Honestly, I don't see a big difference between the two, other than the different skin, different smileys, and a few GUI tweaks here and there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the main differences are internal... so I guess I'll have to wait a bit to find them out. Oh, and if there is a way to view the old omnimaga topics and forums as an archive, that would be uber-awesome.
One more thing: I miss the spam subforum :P .

yeah the differences are mostly in the moderation features and the admin cp.
Now if I view a list of 100 topics I can lock the entire list at once like on IPB 2.x , and I can even select by topic status (closed, pinned, non pinned, etc). I don't need to go to the mod cp all the time if i need to moderate multiple topics at once.

IE6 incompatabilities... Delnar: Your avatar isn't resized on my end, and it kills the layout.
I am forced to use IE6 at school.

I just downloaded Firefox to the computers I use at school. And then a bunch of random add-ons ^.^

yeah but some school comps wont allow installing new stuff on them. As for portable softwares (installed on a jumpdrive)... well some school computers doesn't even have USB ports because they're too old.

I just check on the forums when I get home. But ya, I think there should be a bit more flexibility in schools about what you can have. I guess there just might be complications :(
maybe schools should all use Opera or FF ^^

Test Skin looks pretty nice, large text on the main page seems a bit glitchy when you hover over it though. Some of the orange and blue headings (like the one for fast reply) could be chandged out to match skin though. Overall looks very nice though. :)

i decided to ditch the temp skin, since its kinda slow on slow pcs. I'm gonna try to do something as close to the old board as possible. I think I'll leave font size alone though because it seems to be a pain to edit them in ZB. I'll just change the font used

I think the font is decent -- in posts. Right here in the fast reply box, it's pretty ugly. I haven't noticed that before.

Yea, the test skin isn't too bad. I figured I'd post feedback on it because noone seemed to realize that it was there. It atleast gives an idea of what zetaboards can look like with a skin similar to the old one.

man, idk about any of this stuff, is everyone seeing this purple white and orange, is that the 'test skin' or am i confused, well im confused but am i missing something?

At the bottom of the page there is a dropdown menu to the right of the text Choose a theme: . The dropdown can be changed from "Zeta Original" to "test". Test is a test skin that Kevin made that is similar to the one that was on the old omnimaga boards. :)

When I hover over "Preferences" in the test skin, btw, I get a blank area (the text is using the same color as the background, presumably).

Test skin's alright with me so far, although the transparency of the fast reply box I didn't like at first. But it definitely "feels" like omnimaga

I like the test skin.
It is much better then the zeta Origanal.
Athough it is a bit slow on the pc I am using. But I like the look.

No problem :). As Kevin stated, it's not perfect, but at least it gives an idea of how Zetaboards can look with skins. I don't think its a bad first attempt either. :)

I likes :) The test skin is a huge improvement, this definitely looks better than the original.

It has a great feel like omnimaga, but the transparency is a little too low for me.

Double post: I do enjoy the smaller text on the top, as it does not make me scroll much to see the rest of the board ;).
