Well, when i get a private message, a javascript dialog box shows up saying "You have 1 message in your Inbox, open it in a new tab?" "Yes","No".
I always go for "Yes", but no tab opens and I have to manually access Inbox.
I'm using the latest version of Google Chrome (7.0.x.y.a.b.c.d) in Windows 7 64Bit.
If this is a global error, it would be cool and I think, easy, to fix it :)
-
Chrome is probably blocking it as a popup, I think.

That means it's working for all of you? How bad for me!
-
It's not working for me in Safari. I just use it to know that I have something in my inbox and go from there.

So do I. So, DJ or other programmer of the forum, can this be fixed?
-
I would check your settings to make sure, though. It's just a suspicion I have.
Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, I've used it mainly as graph does. Managers, any ideas?

What settings, forum or browser?
-
Ah, sorry, I thought it was implied :-[
Browser settings, most definitely. The forum doesn't block popups :P

Yeah, I thought of it too!
Well, I allowed pop-us, can anyone PM me to test it?

It's due to browser pop-up blockers. You need to allow pop ups for this website. That said, I just click OK and go check my inbox manually. I have to do this on Cemetech as well and had to do this on the old Omni board as well, but in Cemetech/The old Omni board it is/was worse because the alert box itself appears in a pop-up
I need to find a mod that opens it in the same window, though.
EDIT: For now the forum PM options are located at profile->Personal Message Options. It's possible to get notified via e-mail if you want, unless you use a fake e-mail address (bad idea if you ever forget your password).

Thanks for the clarification, DJ. :)
Just added omnimaga.org as an exception so it can display popups :D
-
What sucks now is that most sites uses pop-unders or those pop ups that only appear when clicking the page anywhere. Those are not filtered for some reasons. Yet, good pop ups still gets blocked by default. X.x
-
You won't abuse Omnimaga's exception to spam popups at me, will you? :P (Just kidding, I know you wouldn't)
I agree, that is annoying x.x

I'll have it checked for Omnimaga only, since I don't want to allow Pop-Ups :S

Since I'm using firefox, it alerts me if a site tries to open a popup and let's you either make ff stop alerting you, temprarily allow the popups, or add an exception. I guess other browsers don't have the alert so you know a popup has been blocked.

In most websites, pop us are not veryh healthy so Chrome automatically disables them ;D
-
that happens in most other browsers too. Thing is I don't like, when you want a pop-up, it's disabled. then when you reenable it, you can't get THAT one to reappear. but then you get an ad popup instead :P

/me creates exceptions

Yeah that's annoying when you find a new website. Some sites opens a pop-up when you download a file. The pop-up contains the download link.

Other Websites launch advertisment pop-ups after you start the download :(

oh, those are pop-unders, I think. Sadly, they are not blocked by pop-up blockers. :/

Pop-Unders are also known in video hosting websites, mainly pornography websites and in file hosts too.
-
Yeah they're common on such sites, torrent sites and download ones. I guess it's a way to circumvent pop-up blockers.
-
I guess they will find some way to circumvent anything. I just don't like the ones that create like 10 windows, and crash my browser, because no matter how many times i visit a site, i'm always the 10,000th visitor.
-
Yeah, we win prizes everytime we visit some sites, it seems. ::)
I remember a few years ago I quitted visiting Newgrounds because school computers were stuck with IE6 before it added a pop up blocker and NG had like 4-5 pop-ups. I also remember a ROM site that had like 50 pop ups. It got so slow. X.x

You are the visitor number 1000000, really! You can win a 10000000€ prize, click here!
When I was 8years old, I was introduced to computers and internet, and then I... I clicked that stuff, and that's how my first computer crashed in a 2 years time :(

The worst ones are when an ad claims your computer is infected and you must download their anti virus to do a scan. If you're computer-illiterate you may end up clicking those and what you install is in fact the virus.
By the way, always be careful if you get PMs from new members with very few posts on the forums. Try to double-check files that they contain if they have any. In the past I believe a member tried to link to viruses once, or maybe it was a bot.
