Just noticed something after the forum stats graph (http://www.omnimaga.org/images/omnistats.png) updated itself: Omni now has more posts in 2010 than that past 3 years combined...
:D
-
Whaaaaaat! Go Omnimaga!!! :D
-
It does?? To me it seemed more like we still had a few more thousands to go...
I know early August was unusually active but not this high. I'll go check
-
Oh, wait, and we passed 40K as well! Huzzah!

Yeah, only yesterday we were only 34 thousand something. Maybe it updates every month?
-
Oh wait sorry I misread your first post. I misread as the entire lifetime Omni post count. The total for 2007, 2008 and 2009 combined isn't even passing 35000. To think in 2006 we only had 5000 less in one single year o.o
At one point I thought about including the 2004 stats from March to September but they are so low that it would almost be pointless (about 60 posts in half a year ;D)

THAT would be awesome, though. But 2006's gonna take a while to beat.
EDIT: Wow, was this August our most active month ever?
-
Er... we already beat 2006... by far. Unless you mean 2006 through 2009 combined?
And yeah I saw August was the most active. It beats June (although June had 30 days, so June's daily average is slightly higher)

Yeah, I meant it would take a while to add 30000 more posts to this years total :P
-
Yeah. I think 70000 is out of the question, although we never know, considering yAronet 68K forum did it once.
-
In any case, there are three months left this year :P
-
Yeah true. To not hit 50000 we would have to go through a major activity slump. The only way I see that happening is if several of our active members leave or if the IRC channel becomes a ghost town. 70000 would only be possible if the 4 next months averaged at June and August activity. October is out of the question so we would have to rely on the 3 other months x.x

Eh, who knows. Summer isn't usually this high either, right? So maybe October's gonna be another surprise.
-
Yeah true. Also in 2006, August was not too bad. In 2007, October wasn't too bad either (although most of the activity was in the Spam/Randomness section)
-
Oh, did you count Randomness back then?
I wonder how many posts we'd had this year if Randomness posts are added.
EDIT: 42nd post today!
-
No, but the sub-forum was visible to guests. It seemed to attract more attention when it was that way, at the expense of the awesome calc projects that could have used more updates or feedback. It was so bad that during Summertime, when people didn't do as much coding, it had about 70% of the entire board activity at times. During Summer 2007 I shutted it down temporary to encourage people to post elsewhere on the site.
Also randomness counts towards the board total, just not towards individual user's post counts. Without randomness, I think we would be around 38000 for 2010 so far.
-
Wow if you haven't noticed guys, in September 2010, we almost have as many posts as what United-TI got during the entire year of 2009 (approximately 8876). However, the magic number for the rest of the month is not 251, it's 376.
Also, this topic has a strange title...
-
IT'S OVER 9000!
-
Not yet. :P
At least I'm glad the 30th isn't a Friday, though. That day is so dead when there's school...
I think both Omnimaga and Cemetech combined together will have 100000 for the year 2010 ;D

Eh, true. I think when I made it I meant the post counts of the three past years :P

That's great :D I can't seem to find the Cemetech post count, though...
-
Yeah that's what I figured. I just thought a topic like "More posts than the 3 last years combined" would have been more suitable :P
I'll probably change it when I feel like it.
Cemetech post counts are available at cemetech->About->Stats. They had 6500 in September so far, according to their news. They're having activity increase similar to what Omnimaga got, but for them it happened 6 months later.

Ah, thanks. And about the title, just changed it (for the first post, which should change the main title, I think). At one point I really liked making weird topic titles :D
-
Ah nice, thanks :D
And yeah I noticed that other one :P
It's not as bad as one of Zera's topic, though. On some computers you couldn't even click the title.
-
Really? :o How'd he do it? I want to try ;D J/k.
-
He used a special unicode character that is kinda like a space but smaller, I think, and it is accepted in topic titles. http://ourl.ca/3387
-
Haha, that's epic.
-
Awesome :D Thanks for the idea.
Whoa, just noticed your sig, Netham. How'd you do that? Is HTML allowed?
-
Yeah I saw the sig last night. Totally epic. He uses a bunch of <marquee> tags. However, only people with admin/database access can use HTML, for security reasons.
-
isn't it just the Shift+backslash cahracter though?
-

Aww... :(
Nice sig, though!
-
Wow, that sig and the topic are both epic! ;D
-
The next great website add-on ;D
-
isn't it just the Shift+backslash cahracter though?
Seems more like Right alt + backslash to me, but it might be due to using different keyboard layout.
-
isn't it just the Shift+backslash cahracter though?
What's that? Isn't that |? I'm probably misunderstanding this, though...
-
Yeah I think it's |. I use a different keyboard configuration, though.
-
Ooh, pic?
-
Pic of what????
-
Oh, I just mean the keyboard. What layout is it?
-
I don't know how it's called anymore. Canadian french, if I remember, but there are many types...
Also for the community stats, if I only include the boards I got stats from, Omni would have more posts in 2010 than all z80 english boards in 2009 combined together. See attachment.
-
This? ;D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KB_Canadian_French.svg)
-
actually the slash button for me is the one below Escape.
-
This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KB_Canadian_Multilingual_Standard.svg)?
Wow, I've never seen any keyboard with a layout other than standard QWERTY :P Except for that time we changed the keyboard mapping of the school Mac to Dvorak :D Ahh, good times.
-
It's qwerty, but canadian french keyboard have multiple settings.
