Title: Omnimaga Signature - Maximum Characters Reduced!
Post by: Jonius7 on August 14, 2013, 11:38:38 pm
I just realised today that the limit of characters for your signature has been cut from 10000 to 3000! Was there any announcement?
My current signature is around 5000 characters long, and it still displays properly, but I will not be able to edit the full signature anymore.

Anyone else had to condense their signature when they tried to edit it recently?

Yup, it's to avoid people putting too much stuff in their signature.

So looks like, those of us that need condensing, to keep our signature the same forever, or reduce all the hidden and popping up stuff.
That would be quite a few people, I would imagine.

Yeah it was particularly bad at one point. When expanding all spoilers, some sigs ended up not even fitting in one page and people also used animated gifs that were either flashy or several MB large. To keep the site accessible to everyone and not turn people away, signature restrictions were instated.

Note that the exact rules still haven't been ironed out yet. The second link Darl gave is has a preliminary idea of what the changes are going to be though. The first thread Darl linked to is what started the discussion. As I'm sure you can see, some signatures had gotten a bit out of hand.
