Question about uploading
« on: September 23, 2008, 07:59:18 pm »
Even though this is a gaming website, is it still possible to upload non-gaming programs/apps? For some reason, everytime I submit an app to ticalc.org, they reject me. Or atleast I think they reject me because they haven't update it yet.

Ticalc always takes an incredibly long time to upload programs (in the past couple of years or so), but they are "hiring" some new staff, so that should get fixed sometime in the future.

You cannot add programs to the dowload section, as it's only RPGs and tools to make RPGs, as well as our own games/programs and our music, but you can upload them into your post by clicking "Additional options" below the place you type your post (not the quick reply, the Reply section), and it will open a file upload form. Your file must be in zip or rar file formar though and must be 256 KB or lower.

Keep in mind in the next years, if we ever max our our diskspace of 120 GB (so far we're at 5 GB I think, including the TIMGUL website), we may purge all old files attached in posts so I recommend also uploading them at calcg.org and maybe unitedti.org if you plan to release them to the entire public.

How do you know if they rejected you or if they just haven't gotten to it yet? Cause they just had new updates on the 23rd and my apps weren't listed...

they usually send an email when they reject programs. If you didn't got one they are most likely listed in the queue still

However, it's different when it comes to math stuff, especially quadratic solvers. There's about 1000 programs that does the exact same thing on ticalc so for example quadratic solvers are no longer accepted. In this case they don't send emails I think

Most likely, you have to know that they have quite a bit to look through before they get to your upload request.

Idk if they still hired them or if they're still hiring. I know some programs were uploaded in wrong categories though so they're prbly still in training mode. ALl I know is that there are 9 programs awaiting in the queue right now

if you are a registered memeber go to Archives and at the bottom there should be an explaination to upload files with a link to the upload form, and in the upload form at the bottom they say how many files is there in their archives
