Title: The Christmas Layout
Post by: Netham45 on November 25, 2007, 02:40:00 pm
I love it and all(espically the green background. ^.^ ) but the red bar seperating 2 posts in a thread seems to stick out. Just my $.02. :)smile.gif

Also, the blue dots next to the subforums stick out, so maybe the color should be changed for those dots as well. ;)wink.gif

AHHHHHHHHH !!!! RED AND GREEN!!!!! It really makes all the blue thats left over (text and bullets beside forum titles) look out of place IMHO.

http://omnimaga.org/index.php?showtopic=913 :-P

This is the same theme than last year

but yeah I've done it in about 20 minutes if I remember. And art_of_camelot thanks for reminding me. I was supposed last year to edit the blue text to make it red-ish and replaces the icons, but I totally forgot x.x

Idk if I will have time to replace the icons tho :wacko:triso2.gif there's full of stuff to edit in the admin CP section to do so x.x

Good question, but what colors would that be?

And the red and green thing will be all right if most of the people here are red-green color blind %)rolleyes2.gif

Also, it'd be neat to have a Kwanza, Ramadan, Summer Solstice, Haloween (you probably already have it, but I don't remember seeing it.), and some other holiday themes.

i only have xmas so far, i didnt did any themes afterward because Invisionfree announced zetaboards so all themes would no longer be compatible. That said zetaboards is still not released x.x

At first I was like, "Hmm. New alien-like theme?" but then I noticed the Christmas wreath.

I think the patterns -- not necessarily the colors -- are kind of a non-festive throw off. :Ptongue.gif

Wow. I'm gone for a few days and look what happens :Ptongue.gif

Actually, I kinda like the new layout. It's a nice change.
However, the wreath thing looks like a mound of flowers that got chopped up in a blender :Dbiggrin.gif

@DJOmnimaga; The blue text isn't really THAT big of a deal. I thinks the change of scenery for the holidays is really nice :)smile.gif.

i think it's partly because the borders are still black.

This skin has only http://beta.zetaboards.com/test/topic/51490/1/

If they finish implementing the conversion code before Christmas end you may never see the other skin again either.

well You could always work on recreating the skins for zetaboards.

Zetaboards is done for people who want a site to start from scratch with. If you want to upgrade InvisionFree, there is still a bit of a wait for it.

yea it's alerady out, I may try to mess around with it if they take a while to post the conversion script/system so we don't have to wait months before getting a new omnimaga skin

maybe we should have a skin designing contest ^^

well if a new skin is done i would rather see it built by myself or one of the staff, not someone outside, because then it wouldn't be omnimaga anymore

well, that's what I mean.  kinda like the PA contests.

ok. Hopefully i can make it through with not much hassle tho. THe only problem is that even if I upgrade to zetaboards I wont be able to use multiple skins because the forum is separated in two database so in some section of the site you'll still see the default skin

The sooner the change of the skin the better. No offence or anything but it is horrible
P.S
it is offensive to atheists such as myself
Title: The Christmas Layout
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 01, 2007, 02:37:00 pm
I am atheist myself, and am not offended by the skin. You are the first one to ever find this skin offensive for such reason. Lot of ppl here has strong belief against religion (like necro) and they didn't complained about the skin. We used this skin for 2 years in a row. Only complains I got is how the blue icons and text standed out and how the banner wasn't too great. Lot of other forums use different skins and post news wishing merry christmas/anything else. Even Invisionfree, who has 2 millions posts and 100000 members did it, and nobody complained for religious reasons.

And for the record, you should have read those before joining the forums:

Ditto. I don't understand why this would offend anyone.

On another note, was it really necessary to bring religion into this discussion? It's really of no concern who believes what, or why. We all like the layout regardless. :)smile.gif

sorry about not reading the bord rules :paf:tripaf.gif
i'll avoid this problem in the current pressant and the future  :thumbup:google.gif
P.S should i edit all of my "controversal" posts
Title: The Christmas Layout
Post by: Zera on December 01, 2007, 02:55:00 pm
It's not controversial -- it's just that we're more of a workplace, in a sense. It's probably better to avoid personal subjects that you know are going to invokve an opionated discussion, as it makes it difficult to maintain a professional work ethic. Especially since it's just a layout we're talking about. :Ptongue.gif

Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 01, 2007, 03:02:00 pm
and on top of that i know atheists who celebrate christmas here. They just don't go to church at midnight since for them christmas is more for partying, hangning out with family and gift exchange. That said we're just pointing out that we are not trying to offend anyone in any mean (except if easter occurs right after april fools day many ppl may get seizures here)

Title: The Christmas Layout
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 01, 2007, 03:33:00 pm
just try the best you can. We wouldn't like Omnimaga to turn into a site where people are afraid of signing up because they will get flamed by users. In fact this forum was built originally because back then there was no other place where you didn't risked of getting flamed.

i once had a math teacher who said that math was his first language which was ironic since he was a sub for the day and could not do basic algebra problems
