Title: There are noticably more spambots than usual...
Post by: Delnar_Ersike on March 15, 2007, 06:02:00 pm
Over the past 2 days, I have seen 3 spambots on the forums. This gets kind of annoying, so what should we do about it? I know there is the traditional delete-and-ban-IP method, but that gets overwhelming for the admins after a while.
Omnimaga could also adopt the MaxCoderz rule: no posting links if the poster's post count is under five. If they try to, then the admins are notified  of the post and its contents and the poster is "flagged".

we are working on fixing this...we are attempting at giving staff more privelages to help limit the number of bot attacks

hopefully this will prove to be successful

Yeah, I just noticed. Every bot so far has always had the same/similar links.

Yeah, I just noticed. Every bot so far has always had the same/similar links.

The why don't the admins ban any links to those websites if they are all similar?
