And when updating: I would say leave also the old banner as v5 skin and add a v6 skin :D

 I think I'd have to agree. :)

Well what could be done to prevent having too many skins (especially if the forums is gonna get upgraded at any time or another, meaning an extra skin to redo from scratch) is to update the v5 banner but not v5 Lite. The only difference with v5 Lite is that the background scrolls with the page. If people really wants the background fixed I guess v5 Lite could be edited so that it is again but renamed to v5, since today we are in 2013, not in 1998, so most people probably got a decent enough computer to handle fixed backgrounds very well. Otherwise v5 Lite could just be left as is if people don't mind the fixed background.

Well, if the only change is the banner it is only a matter of copy-pasting the v5 created skins and editing the banner, which isn't so complicated.

Yeah but that's still an hassle as you need to navigate back and forth between lots of page and the SMF 2 admin CP navigation is crap compared to SMF 1 >.<

As for other themes they're all based on each others but they all have their own little differences :P

so... any progress? Or should I grab a bunch of images and update my old banner with some newer pics while keeping some classic stuff? I thought for this theme it would be nice to keep the banner similar, just with some renewal.

You should add a few games of each calculator. :)

Maybe, but you can always try?
Because otherwise it's discriminating. :P(j/k)

I like the calcs and how they are placed now :D. If you have some free space, you could maybe include the v200 and 83+ pic from 2005 somewhere in the background, maybe in faded color to put emphasis on new gen calcs. As for games you could add a mix of the classics (the Link pic from Zelda: Dark Link Quest comes to mind, or the title screen) and the new games. Try to add some of the contest games maybe as well as some staff games. For regular member games, Pokémon Topaze battle screen is a must, as well as Matrefeytontias stuff. (Jetpack, Super Crate Box, etc, if not already added). ALso add Elimination by Hot Dog, along with his Slova game.

You could maybe keep Nspire/PRIZM stuff separate, like on the right of the Omni logo. Also I like the modified calc fonts for CoT. I will miss the Narkisim fonts a little bit but with the way you used the calc ones it looks better I think.

I kinda like the old fonts, but the glow on the text on the in-progress version by shmibs looks good, and clean as well.
Perhaps Blockdude as one of the TI-nspire games?

Nice to see you working on this again. :) Only suggestion so far is to lighten up some of the black and white stuff on the far left of the banner. It's a bit hard to see. Oh, and the middle could stand to be populated with some more images as well.

Wow this looks even cooler now! :D Only thing is that the Since 2001 text that overlaps on the TI-89T is a little hard to read.

Just one thing, do you think the ClassPad 400, HP 39gII and FX-9860GII could be placed there somewhere? The CP400 came out a few months ago in Europe, the HP 39gII last year and the FX-9860GII is still quite popular in France (even more than the PRIZM). In the future maybe the HP Prime could be added, but we better wait in case HP cancels yet another amazing calc model in our face.

EDIT: Here is how it looks like on the site:
