Title: 84+ce AXE
Post by: Jsec42 on April 29, 2015, 10:48:08 pm
Is there any way we can get AXE running on the new 84+CE? Just a thought...

Despite the similar name, the 84+CE is wildly different from the monochrome 83+/84+ calculators. Not only would many of the standard library commands need to be redesigned, but the compiler itself would need of lots modifications, if not a rewrite.

I've had ideas of doing such a thing, but it's a massive undertaking. It took over 5 years for Axe to get where it is today. So at least for the near future, the answer is: no, Axe won't run on the 84+CE.

Good to know ;) I just figured it was easier to port it to this calc than to port it to the (now obsolete) TI 84+CSE.(Namely because of the Memory-mapped LCD)

Oh and btw...would it at all be possible for me to help in this undertaking?

That would require learning the z80 assembly language, but then you won't need axe as much anymore.
