Liking how this looks actually.

Also, love how you're using the scrolling background for the menu (with some cool modifications)

Keep up the good work~

well this is on the 84+SE but it runs pretty fast on the 83+ still
@{AP}: thanks :) I'm really glad I found that tutorial of yours or else I would still have my really bad title screen. BTW I haven't seen you in a while, wb

Yeah, real life issues came up.

Title: Re: Screenshots

Well all I could work on today was some of the sprites, I'm going to post my spritesheet here in the edit
EDIT: ok here it is, I'm also going to post a image of the sprites put together if they are suppose to
EDIT2: ok here they are
EDIT3: ok I decided to randomly add in a second start screen, here it is

Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Raylin on July 04, 2009, 09:02:01 am
I like 'em! (If my opinion counts.) ^_^
Title: Re: Screenshots

Everyone's opinion counts at Omnimaga.
Or else! =D
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 04, 2009, 05:27:43 pm
I like them too, my favourite is the Earthquake effect and at least finally earthquake effect not relying on Z-Address shifting routines, meaning it works on Nspire and WabbitEmu fine :D
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 04, 2009, 05:54:06 pm
thanks :) it took a little bit to make it look good.
@ProphetsDementia: Of course your opinions counts, unless it contradicts mine....jkjk :)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 06, 2009, 06:45:03 pm
ok, new screenshot, all that I added was a little summoning animation to the magics
Title: Re: Screenshots

They look nice ;D
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 06, 2009, 06:57:23 pm
nice, I like how you use the Illusiat style magic casting.
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 06, 2009, 07:06:09 pm
thanks :)
I didn't totally rip it from Illusiat though, it doesn't use the * in it. it also will not error if it is on the top of the screen, it will always show though since it is using Text( so it doesn't look the best on the black tiles but I like it
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 06, 2009, 11:13:51 pm
this is my scrolling action :P
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 06, 2009, 11:51:45 pm
wow looks nice. Very Zelda Ish :D

Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: simplethinker on July 07, 2009, 10:31:33 am
It looks nice :)  What would happen if the players position in the new screen/room (at the very edge) was an un-walkable tile?
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 07, 2009, 12:11:51 pm
If his map engine can detect solid tiles from the next screen maps, there wouldn't be any problem, the char would simply not go off the screen, else, he would need to make his maps so the next room edge has the exact same tiles type (solid or walkable)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 07, 2009, 02:22:43 pm
exactly what DJ said, in fact I was trying to go to the right but I couldn't until I got high enough to pass that little room thing
and on a side note, I accidentally deleted the sprite sheet...good thing I backed it up :D
(@DJ: I was aiming for Zelda when I did that)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 08, 2009, 05:16:55 pm
ok, here are the two most recent magics I made...
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 08, 2009, 05:45:43 pm
they look nice, but for some reasons they seems to overlap on the next tile to the right?
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 08, 2009, 05:51:12 pm
hmm, they do....oh well quick fix
Title: Re: Screenshots

sorry for the doublepost, I just forgot to put this in the last one, so I wanted to make sure that this showed up on the home page, so that everybody could see, another screenshot :)
blue magic at its finest
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 08, 2009, 06:01:02 pm
wow is that one some sort of water magic?
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 08, 2009, 06:04:46 pm
kind of I guess....it's the ultimate magic, the last one you learn in the game, so I guess it's water, or something like that...how does it look?
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 08, 2009, 06:09:44 pm
it seemed like some sort of aqua magic, but it looked very nice
Title: Re: Screenshots

thanks, I fixed that little error you told me about for the grey magic btw
Title: Re: Screenshots

Title: Re: Screenshots

ok, this screenshot shows all aspects of the in-game menu
meh, the screenshot doesn't show contrast right....
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 12, 2009, 09:34:52 pm
ok, here is my room switching at work :) I may find a way to implement the cool zelda like thing in it, but not yet....
anywho, sorry about the screen garbage at the end, I only had 2 maps in the appvar, so it was trying to make a map from ".L:NT:FN"
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: simplethinker on July 12, 2009, 09:36:38 pm
so it was trying to make a map from ".L:NT:FN"
I don't think that works too well...

well here is a celebratory screenshot of my game :)
I will only show a small portion of the first platform so I won't ruin the surprise for you
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Builderboy on July 16, 2009, 02:15:17 pm
Oooohhh!  Very awesome!  I like the dialogue and the terrain :)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 16, 2009, 02:57:52 pm
thanks :)
for the next platform I'm going to have to make some ice tiles...(it is the white platform btw....)
I was hoping that my tiles were not too much
thanks again

oh yeah, the dialogue gets a little annoying sometimes...because it will keep coming up unless you get off of the person..., hmm I think I will make it test for a key press instead of directly going into dialogue
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Builderboy on July 16, 2009, 04:12:12 pm
Oh, thats what was going on!  Hehe, that might be a good idea.  Or have it only come up once or something (although that would take an extra variable...)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 16, 2009, 04:29:24 pm
well mine is easy to fix I just need it to test the events then to test for the keypress, so yeah....that was what was happening, and it was annoying me...
anyways so you use vars for yours...hmm so I'm guessing that you have the events build directly into the map
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Builderboy on July 16, 2009, 04:50:43 pm
No, i was saying that if you wanted the dialogue to come up only once, then you would have to have another var to keep track of whether or not you have heard it already.  But I like the keypress idea better, so you can choose to talk to people.
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 16, 2009, 05:01:57 pm
ah, ok.
good thing I have at least one extra var to spare though, I might have it so that they say two things, one for the first time, and another for the next time, like in other games
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 16, 2009, 11:23:30 pm
another screenshot, this is of the newly added boss (I may make it better soon)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 17, 2009, 04:33:29 pm
ok, I have upgraded the boss, and made him better, check this out
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 18, 2009, 02:59:18 pm
ok, this shows a test cut scene, you naming yourself, and the keypress to talk not just landing on them :D

-

ok, I know I shouldn't, but I will, this is the first cut scene, but I will only show the first! enjoy :)
(oh yeah, you missed it fading to black at the end...stupid gif capture...)
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 19, 2009, 07:48:30 pm
ok, here is my new tileset, I'm jut missing the mask for the boss, speaking of which, I should get to working on it
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 22, 2009, 04:37:24 pm
rise of the Omnimaga!
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 22, 2009, 07:52:08 pm
i like how the option box opens up. Nice work so far. The boss seems rather slow, though x.x, was it on a regular 83+?

EDIT: Also I would change the program name of that Omnimaga screen so it doesn't have the Theta char in it. I don't know why, but a lot of program copy routines doesn,t seems to want to copy these programs on every calc (same issue as the new 84+ with TI-Boy?). Two people had trouble running Metroid II because of that.
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 22, 2009, 09:26:12 pm
I guess I could, but what I do is just unarchive it run it then rearchive it, I don't really like the program copy routines, it wastes RAM. but I guess I should rename it.
the screenshot of the boss was on a 84+ SE, but it's still playable, if slow, but you only run into bosses at the end of each platform (minus the first), the only reason it slows down is because of the animations it is going through. it's actually pretty fast when it's not doing anything at all.
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 23, 2009, 02:47:01 am
uhm, actually when unarchiving then rearchiving you still waste RAM. When unarchived, the program takes the exact same amount of RAM than if it's copied. When you just copy them you just run a Celtic command that's all. On top of that, archiving/unarchiving also requires ASM routines, being impossible in BASIC with programs inside programs, plus you get lot of garbage collection and batteries gets eaten much faster due to the constant archiving/unarchiving.

The only benefit you get from archiving/unarchiving instead of copying is that when in the RAM, the program no longer takes any archive.
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 23, 2009, 02:34:06 pm
actually any program in the archive takes up a bit of RAM, because the calc has to know its there, so that's why I'm doing this, I'm going to have a lot of appvars and stuff on the archive, and a lot of programs on the RAM, so I want to keep the extra little amount of RAM usage down, and the program is only an extra, so you don't need to use it if you don't want to, because it will only run it if it exists
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 23, 2009, 02:55:40 pm
ah ok I see, it's up to you really. I was just pointing out the pros and cons in case
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on July 23, 2009, 04:12:15 pm
Thanks for clarifying, and thanks for pointing the pros out for me, but I think I'll keep it the way it is, but who knows I may change it later

EPIC SWORD FIND :P
EDIT: and now it is animated :P
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on August 24, 2009, 10:42:01 pm
this looks nice ^^

why does certain room to room switching have scrolling animation and some doesn't, tho?
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on August 25, 2009, 12:13:27 pm
because the ones with scrolling is in the same room, the other one if from map to map
each room has 4 screens so you can scroll between the screens, but it is next to impossible to scroll between 2 maps...unless I was to make a system, but that would be very complicated
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on August 25, 2009, 01:24:05 pm
oooh ok, i understand now. And yeah it would be a bit slower I think. You would probably need to store the current map into a pic and then store the new map in a matrice, and depending in which direction you went, it would scroll appropriately by displaying a 16x1 map, then 16x2 and so on, or 1x8, then 2x8, etc, while fewer and fewer parts of the pic would be shown
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on August 25, 2009, 01:29:01 pm
hmm, I was just thinking about storing the map data (it's a string, not a matrix) to another string and then recalling the new one, then I would just move it across the screen like how you where saying
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on August 25, 2009, 02:23:05 pm
that can work, too
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on August 25, 2009, 06:08:45 pm
it will just take a while to code...
Title: Re: Screenshots

Title: Re: Screenshots

yep! that's the whole point!
I'm actually really impressed with myself here :P
Title: Re: Screenshots
Post by: Eeems on August 27, 2009, 12:57:34 pm
ok, here is a screenshot of some new additions to the ungrouping (now you can leave the world data grouped as well) and it also shows the maps in gameplay due to a program I made that will convert the map data (string) into a map (picture)
EDIT: Oh yeah, here is the program that converts the maps in action

mhmm I don't see any HUD difference? O.O
I think the only difference was he's using C3's identity(10 instead of BASIC's Text( command.

I hope your parents at least give it back to you before the end of school year. When away from something for a long time, sometimes you get side tracked by other stuff and lose interest. Have you thought about developping it on the PC (TI-Graph Link) in the meantime, though? (assuming you have PC access at school)

You can use wabbitemu/whatever+GraphLink.

In case you need to install stuff at school, breaking into the systems with a linux boot CD+password cracking program is usually pretty easy. I did that once, then "taught" the IT guy how to improve his security, then did it again using an admin account he had left open, which allowed me to copy the new Administrator V-struct, crack the general local admin pass (which "surprisingly" was valid on all computers), etc etc...  Next week I'll dump my new "information" on his desk, by the way, I don't wanna get caught with the password file from the domain controller (this time the guy had set the local password on some PC we had access to to the Domain Admin's password, not very clever).  ;D  You're out of luck, though, if the BIOS is passworded and there are no accessible admin accounts.

at certain schools, the security system on computers is quasi non-existent. In hi school, they forced people to login before using computers (which would allow people to install stuff, browse every websites except downloading zip files and change other settings) and the password was the same everywhere (everyone in comp classes got told the password by the teacher). The final year, there weren't anymore password prompt, except zip files still gave 403 forbidden.

The only security thing we had and no one knew how to bypass it was that when turning the computer back on, the entire harddrive content got reverted back to what it was before you used the computer so if you uninstalled/installed stuff, accidentally saved your projects/images on the C:\\ drive instead of the D:\\ one or changed parameters, then these were all lost/reverted back upon computer reboot

well our school uses a server and dummy boxes, and don't worry I will get back into it
it would be nice if someone would make an emulator for the iPod touch/iPhone....

Yeah, given that these are getting more and more popular.

I hope your parents aren't planning to keep you grounded for the entire school year x.x I think they would be going a bit too far if they did that
