Title: 4.x CAS on Non-CAS model
Post by: edgarasf123 on March 12, 2017, 10:01:20 am
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how I could load 4.x CAS OS on non-CAS model (HW-B).

I'm way past all classes requiring only non-CAS calculators. So its not for any exam cheating purposes. I actually own second nspire CAS (HW-J), that I use regularly. But I'd like to give my old calc to my friend, prefferably loaded with CAS recent version.

I've seen multiple hints that it is possible load it, while googling, but I've trouble finding propper tutorials.

Sorry, but it's simply not possible. Even on a hardware revision less than J, no one has bothered to figure out how to get a version of CAS higher than 3.1 or 3.2 running. There are plenty alternatives, such as KhiCAS (https://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=79135), however.

EDIT: It is now possible to boot CAS firmware on non-CAS hardware via nBoot+ControlX. (https://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18920&p=206415)
