Title: Avenged: A lua rpg
Post by: The_King on November 15, 2013, 02:26:27 pm
While i just started working on the math luminosity yesterday today i decide to make a story for an rpg for nspire which is not to be designed in basic. I will work more on this than luminosity project because for this ideas are needed and i am an ideaman.
Tell me how you think about it

I don't have many ideas right now, other than trying to make the Lua RPG with actual graphics (which almost every Lua game lacks, despite Lua being more than capable of displaying them) and by graphics, I don't mean stick figures. :P

Also maybe make the image in your sig more readable, but that's off-topic :P

I have finalized THE theme for the rpg:  medieval advenure/ quest
and the game title will be Avenged: the Story of the lost warrior

by the way ldstudios already started on the basic sprites and stuff so an idea of how the rpg will look should be not far away

@DJ Omnimaga Dont worry the player sprites are ready and they are not even close to stickmen

And in other news
we have finally gotten into the main part of the game: the monsters
i am currently working on them, while LDS works on the battles

Good to hear it's progressing. :)

Also since it's an RPG, keep in mind that while speed is generally not a big concern with them, the large amount of work that such project involves can overwhelm people easily if the game is too big, especially if they have less than 2-3 years of experience in programming. This mainly happens when it becomes time to code the battle engine, so be sure to get the engine including battles done as soon as possible in case.

how i came to get this project going

i got my nspire cx in 2012 as part of my high school studies. at first i was just using it for studies sigh but slowly i started testing its capabilities. i when online and search for ways to enhance my nspire experience. first i got ticalc and got a bunch of basic games. it was fun but only problem that they were in basic as such text based. i used to envy my friends having a inferior calculators while getting more from it. finally i got a rpg (i think it was vitaly's rpg) that actually me the idea of a rpg but i hesitated because of basic also because then i did not even know basic. but i learnt it fairly quickly. but basic still meant text game. then learnt about lua.

LUA?

i searched it up and knew that it will  a time consuming but fun experience making an rpg for that. But the question rose was there is no lua based rpg is it possible .

i recently joined omnimaga and saw the potential of lua and decided to start on this as a test and as a benchmark for lua on the ti nspire. it is a test that i am working on succeeding in this game. So lets go team.

man i was wrong i just checked

superbany maker of ti rpg 1 and 2 and ghezra have been working on a remake of tirpg before i even began: 2 years before they started on it. though it is not yet finished. but they still beat me to the first starters of lua rpg. btw it is still text based but using lua interface

But you just triple posted D:
/me glares at the modify button (although it's fine if it has been several hours or if the content doesn't fit in one post)

And yeah I remember about Superbany's RPG. I think the reason why it isn't finished is because he wasn't as much into calcs, so his interest was very sporadic.

A lua RPG sounds great! I really want to get around to learning lua, too.

I think Hoffa is doing a big trip in Australia within he's computer. I know it's only a demo but It is pretty inspiring.
It's sad because hoffa was an brilliant programmer...
