Title: CAS os on NON CAS calculator, without osloader
Post by: simonsimons34 on September 01, 2012, 12:48:53 am
Okay, so dont shoot the messenger here.  this is only theory here and therefor, is not breaking any rules

So, while messing with the emulator, i needed to pull my boot1 and 2  i do that and get the cx normal os booting fine.. But i want more!  so i took the cas os file and booted it like the normal version, with the same boot 1 and two. Guess what,  it worked!  Everything works great in the cas emulator as well.   So, what im thinking is if TNOC can delete files from the updator why cant it add files?  sure we need help from others, but the thing is  couldnt we just take out our Ti-Nspire.img and replace it with the CAS one?  Leave the certificates and you should be good, and it should boot.  You can easily test the theory in the emulator before trying it on a calculator, but the idea makes good sense to me.

If you reflash both Boot1 and Boot2, yes ;)

Hm...
How did you boot CX CAS on your CX? Is there a program for that? How do you "flash" the img?

Short answer: no ;)

You sure about that?
Check your email :P

I didn't. I didn't notice you had a CX CAS.
As far as I know, nobody has ever managed to boot a CAS OS on the CX, not to reflash its 'internal' Boot1.

In the first post, he was talking about a CX - and nobody knows how to reflash the boot1 of a CX, that's why I replied no ;)

But indeed, once the boot1 (root trust of the calculator) is subverted, anything can occur. Clickpad calculators - and especially prototypes thereof - are different from Touchpad and CX.
