Spoiler For original post:
After the last release of Jumping Squares, I have been working on a puzzle/platformer called CHAOS. I've been working on the game for about a week now, and the first few levels are working. There's still a lot more work to be done however before I finish. Let me know if you have any ideas :)

What is the game like, do you have any animated screen-shot?

As of now, I have a few graphics problems I need to fix, but I will add an animated scrnsht of the gameplay within a week.

The video quality isnt great, it runs a lot better in the actual game, but here is an example of the gameplay:

Ha, looking nice, as if it can get very frustrating if you just managed to play for 5min and get killed xD
But I like those games, nice work :)

Just to clarify, the object of each level is to reach the door.
The drawRect in the video is supposed to be a door, i might replace it with an image later.

Huge Necropost:
This is an active project again. I'm starting over the code from scratch, but the basic concept is the same.

EDIT: Screenshots

Next thing to do is add spikes!

Glad that you revived. :D I assume the new platform graphics will be the new graphics for the final game? Also don't forget about 3.1 compatibility :P

Do you plan to re-add the fade in/out animations like in the video above? They added a nice touch to the game since no other Nspire Lua game uses such effect.

I may or may not use the platform graphics in those screenies. I haven't really decided yet. For the most part, the graphics in those screenies are completely temporary, and yes, I plan on fading from the title screen.

EDIT: Spikes

Squares explode upon impact

This looks awesome, but I have some concerns about that level being unfairly abusing invisible traps >.<. Is it because the game focuses on the player memorizing where spikes are? Because if that's not the case then it might be better to make it so when you are right next to the spike location, a small hint is given about the presence of the spike. Eg if you walk on platforms the part below you could change to a darker gray until you jump or move to the next block, but when next to an invisible spike maybe the platform could turn into a slightly red-ish gray tone?

Part of the point is memorizing where the spikes are, and being careful not to touch them. Don't worry, the example video isn't an actual level, and I don't plan on having too much stuff with ridiculous (almost impossible) jumps like the one shown.
That said, I've just started working out the story and level set. I'll probably have a level editor as well.

Aaah ok, it would have sucked if the first levels or so required at least 20 retries until you finally find all the invisible spikes to avoid one by one :P

Also level themes would be cool. For example, World 1 could be grass + sky as default color set, world 2 the current colors, world 3 some fire place, etc. A level editor would definitively be great too :)

Themes like this are planned, except the entire game occurs in a limbo-like world called "Chaos". So instead of grass and sky and such, each Act will have a different platform color, but all will have a black background.

I really love the fade in/out effects and the animations. It looks even more polished that way per Nspire Lua standards.

By the way, would diagonal platforms and trampolines be feasible?

That looks quite awesome O.O Any chance for a WIP version?

Time for the beta release! Please test and report any bugs/issues! I will make the final release in a few days! (Anyone who can beat it by then has insane skillz!)
Hopefully the speed will be good, but if it's too slow, there are some optimizations I can make to help it a bit.
Also, if someone could make an animated gif for me, that would be great ^.^

EDIT: This game is supposed to be hard, if you don't like raging over one level for 10 minutes, don't play. On that note, it is possible, I have beaten the entire game, and other people have reported beating all of the first act so far.

1,000,000 points to Matrefeytontias for being the first to beat Chaos on calc!
I'm going to add a few levels before the official release, make a few optimizations, and fix a bug or two. I wonder if the new final act will be possible even for him? >:D

One of your next games will probably have to be a I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game port if you want to keep up with the difficulty. ;)

Yay a version out! :D I'll try it when I have some time, but I bet I won't be able to beat the first stage. :P

It wasn't, but I don't think it's too big a deal.

Just tried this on OS 3.1 and it is just epic, particularly the elaborate fade in and animations :D, not many calc games go that far. Good job and this game is quite a bit frustrating too :P
