Hi everyone!
A couple months ago, I made a blackjack game in BASIC for the Nspire. It was almost decent, and I was just planning to make a new, epic version of the game when Lua was discovered for the calculator.
School ends June 10th for me, so after that, I'll be working a lot on it using Lua. I just made this place as an update page, a place for you to make suggestions, a place for me to ask programming questions, and an overall incentive for me to finish.
Thanks!
P.S.- If anyone would like it, I can post my old game here.
-
I'd like your old game.
Whats your lua version going to be like?
-
Ok, I'll post it ASAP.
The lua version will hopefully eventually have graphics using Hoffa's tool for sprites (i think) with all of the basic commands, like hit and stand, possibly also split, surrender, and/or double down.
-
SOunds good i'll be excited to see it
-
Okay, the original game is attached to this post.
Time for a question: how do you create a field for the user to enter a number in Lua?
-
You have to make your own I believe. You display text(prompt) then wait for them to put something in with the keyboard(you should probably display this also and then wait for enter for taking the value or something. Sorry if this doesn't make sense
-
No, it makes sense. My only question is how you display what they are typing.
-
You could store what they type to a variable then display that text after your prompt
-
Okay, thanks.
-
If I had time I'd write you up a quick routine to do it
-
Does anyone have a routine for this written already?
-
I'll make one. I have a little time
-
It would be nice to see some graphics. With the Nspire resolution it should make things easier for card sprites :P
-
Right, I was going to do that.
I'll post screenies when I make them (after finals :P).
BTW, what's the dimensions for the Nspire screen? How many pixels?
-
320x240, but in Lua you can't use all of it, if I remember.
-
How much can you use?
-
Unfortunately I do not remember. :(
EDIT: If I calculated correctly, I think 318x212 (the entire area that is netham-coloured below)
-
Got it. Thanks, DJ!
-
This info should be added somewhere to the nspired-lua.org wiki if it's correct.
-
Wonderful :D

Update 1:
My school got out, so I'll be able to work on this more.
I'm just about finished with the graphics, so I should be ready to start coding soon. :)
-
Update 2:
The bad news is that I'm going to have to stop this until my contest entry is done.
The good news is that I'll probably start again after the contest is over.
-
Wow, I completely forgot about this until today, when one of my friends asked me when this was coming out. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this, so if you would like to do this, just PM me. If I don't get any PM's, then I'll just probably put this in the line of projects :).
