Title: [ASM] Legends
Post by: NanoWar on November 19, 2011, 05:02:21 pm
Some of you might have seen this already on the revsoft forums, I made another spell-caster game called Legends. And it needs more testers (you)!!!

It only supports TWO-PLAYER mode. Please call a friend and try! :)

You can play it on your own, but it's not that fun. Or you have a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociative_identity_disorder :) .

Legends is for TI83+ at the moment. You don not need a link cable, it's a "gimme-the-calc-game".

There a new version out now (same link as above)!

Wow, the graphics look very nice. If I can find someone to play with, I may test it out. How stable is it?

Does this work for MirageOS?
When I get it, it doesn't show up...

I don't think it is a mirage program. Then again, I use zstart so it doesn't really matter to me :)

>:O Well darn, is there any shell that works for Ti-83+SE and is not MirageOS?

noshell! use noshell! then you don't need a shell!

I prefer zstart (http://ourl.ca/10110/259827). The "run from home" option is good. Out of everything I have on my calc, I think zstart is the most useful. It has a lot of tools that you may find helpful :)

I don't  :'(
I only know one other person with a graphing calc and he never uses it.

It's a nostub program. You can run it with Asm(Legends), old school.

So what exactly is it?
It's a spell-caster game. Each player chooses one spell per round that will be cast "against" the other player's spell. E.g. one player casts Fireball, the other casts Counterspell. Fireball gets countered, next round. Not all spells can be cast every turn. To differentiate the spells, each spell has certain characteristics that determine how often it can be cast (power). That power loads up every turn... Complicated game engine, but easy play.

THis looks pretty great. I saw this on RS a while ago and it was interesting.

Maybe eventually I could get an hold of Juju so we could test it. Otherwise I don't know anybody else who own a 83+ where I live or care about calc games. :P

I wonder if this kind of game could be portable over CALCnet? (So we can play online)

Well I don't know how to test it, but yeah I think this is possible. It's a multiplayer game after all!

There should be a CALCnet add on for wabbitEmu!

Hey,
I need some more advice on balancing.

I updated the game at ticalc (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/448/44862.html). Saving the spell setup is now automatically done.

I don't know, it seems that there is no real "market" for two player games. When I first came up with the idea I playtested my early versions with a friend and we had a lot of fun! So please test it for me and tell me what you think :) .

This game looks amazing indeed!

I realize it is 2 player game, but have you entertained the idea of a 1 player against the calculator option? Not at all necessary... some of my favorite games growing up were 2 player games played by a single player (me).

Yeah the main issue is that typically, when there is someone who is a big calculator fan at school, he is usually alone. There might sometimes be causal calc gamers  but they'll never play anything else than Tetris and Phoenix and in Tetris case they rarely ever bother playing in multiplayer since it's usually against the library rules and such stuff. :(

I might try this at one point if I have some time. Hopefully if Juju likes that type of game and we have some time we could try playing together and see if we can find any unbalanced stuff, though. :P
