Title: Age of Darkness Series
Post by: tifreak on December 16, 2005, 02:25:00 am
This is where I will post updates on my (seemingly) most popular game(s), Age of Darkness.

Currently, I only have 18 more enemies to program in before I can begin beta testing the game on the 82. Is there anyone on this forum that owns an 82 that would be willing to test?

Also, the 82 version runs quite a bit faster than the 83/+ versions.

By changing all files from 82p to 8xp manually I can run them fine on my 83+SE. If not I have emu8x, since its TI-BASIC it should run fast enough I think. I could test it, how much is co0mplete so far?

If I get a chance, I might have it up in about an hour and a half, if things go well, and my computer doesn't mess up...

it doesnt work at all in PindurTI it gives transmission error on all files. Maybe they are corrupted

I don't know anything about pindurTI, does it fully support the 82?

I don't think the files are corrupted, I used graphlink to retrieve them...

I guess I will have to see if anyone else has any problems...

(Make sure you read my disclaimer in the readme... :Dbiggrin.gif)

PTI fully support the 82, I think it might be because you cant even send TI-82 prgms to it at all or you need a specific rom (I have 19.0)

nice avatar btw

seemed to work fine, but since you made lot of AOD games I didnt remembered which one was that version so I was kinda confused at first :Dbiggrin.gif seemed good, I am wondering if you could be able to port it to all z80 calcs including the 85/86 as well as the 89?

85/86 definitely, the 89, maybe. I will have to familiarize myself with the programming language a bit better before I could take on that kind of project...

Well, will white gave me a program that is supposed to port a game from one calc to all, I am just waiting to see if it does the 89. I will probably still port the 86 version over by hand...

The 82 version is coming along nicely, with 22 bugs killed. :)smile.gif I am sure there are more on the way, as I am only on the second 'stage' of the game... <_<dry.gif

still awesome, I hope I could get my games ported for the 86. I doubt most would work on 82/85 tho because those wont have string support

I think I'Ll make one for the whole series (maybe in the staff project list tho) since you are working on many AOD ports as well atm

how are your port progressing so far?

I had to get batteries for the calc, cause they were getting low. I am part of the way done playing through the 2nd level set on the 82, Maybe once I get all the way through the game, I can write up a really good readme, and get the game posted. :)smile.gif

Then off to optimizing the other available versions, before begining on the 86 versions.

The tutorials and Pokemon have taken up a lot of my time though...

w00t new progress. Btw since AOD1 was all homescreen text and cant be added to Omnimaga RPG for those reasons what if I you released one zip file containing all AOD games you made? I could add it to archives there and once its ported to other calcs I could add it to other sections as well

I might be able to do that... I have to go through AOD1 first and fix the errors...

Well, here is a little bit of an update. I was playing around with the lists on my 82, and stupid me corrupted the save file, so I had to start over. <_<dry.gif

The good news is, I can play it trough to make sure the 22 bug fixes that I have completed thus far does not interfere with anything. ^_^

While playing around with the game, I fixed a problem that the 83/83+ version had with the battle system, where if the enemy had magic, it would automatically use its magic up trying to kill you, then go about attaking. :)smile.gif I have been slowly playing the game, as I work on my numerous other projects, maybe if I can just concentrate on it, and beat the game to my satisfaction, I can finally release it.

(Sorry for any spelling errors, this is a new keyboard and I am just getting the feel for it... <_<dry.gif)

haha about the keyboard nice to see update on this, are u planning to port all games to those calcs? Maybe you could attempt 85/86 ports as well?

AOD Series will surface on all z80 calcs, I think, except for the 73, 80, and 81, because I do not have those calcs to test on. And of course, the 83/83+ versions are now in a desperate state of needing optimizing. It is sad when the TI-82 runs a game faster than the 83+SE... :rofl:rotfl.gif

No joke, that is how optimized it is on the 82 right now... :)smile.gif That is why I said:

Once I get the optimizing complete, that will not longer be the case... :)smile.gif
