I saw jimbauwens' BlockBreaker 68K, and I thought it was to awesome not to port to Axe. But I couldn't play the actual game, so I read the readme. I took the basic concept of his game and probably will take some levels, to make an Axe version. Its not really a port, since its missing some of the stuff he has in the 68K version, but I'm also going to add some stuff from Block dude and my own ideas. ;)
I've got most of the sprites done, although some aren't shown yet, the basic engine, and some features. I'm still working on Saving and Restarting, and I need more levels. If anyone wants to help make them, feel free. ;)
So so far, I have two easy levels, the restart doesn't work yet, Mode to quite right away, clear to get to the "menu". Controls similar to Blockdude, 2nd to break the white blocks. the checkered ones are unbreakable, but their positions aren't fixed. the brick patterned ones are walls that can also float.

:o I wanted to create tihs too, but you were earlier D:
This looks soooooo cool!
-
Its just awesome seeing people like your ideas, and use it.
The screenshot looks amazing! Good work!

thanks, and yeah, the first part is very true. ;)

I love the graphics and the scrolling. Great job so far!
-
yunhua98: This is looking pretty epic! great jobs, the graphics, the gameplay is really 'soft' and cool!
-
Wow nice! Nice graphics too. I think you should have a mode using the exact same graphics and levels as Jim's version, though, to remain true to the original in some ways.
-
The same graphics? Those of the ti 89 might be small enough. I don't think Jim would mind that much if he used different graphics, though.
Yunhua said this was going to be based on the blockbreaker, but it might have some changes.
One I notice allready was this: When you jump of a pile of blocks, you can move left/right while falling. This makes it more advanced but can make levels easier(I think). But I don't really mind it.
-
Hmm, some of the Block Breaker stuff is kinda hard so I don't think I'm going to make an exact port, but I'll have all his levels on there, (I already have 3 of them. ;)) but most will have minor changes to increase the difficulty, since I removed the energy concept.
-
Ah ok, I guess a different version is fine too. :D
-
*bump*
Update! :D I'm really ripping off of Blockdude and BlockBreaker now. :P I added the ability to pick up blocks and put them down to make up for the difficulty lost by my removing of the energy concept. ;) They might be a little glitchy when you throw it at a wall of something though. I also added two more levels. And yes, the 4th level IS solvable. You'll see what I mean when I upload it sometime soon. ;) I'll try to get more levels in the meantime. ATM the program is 5401 bytes. But hopefully, I'll only need to add levels after this. I also plan on supporting external level packs. ;)
-
Oh nice, so it will be kinda like a merge of both games? /me can't wait for a new screenshot. :D
-
well, it was originally going to to be a merge, leaning more to the blockbreaker side, but I'm going to go off the course a little bit more. ;) Maybe kinda like how Trapped had a lot of different elements from Blockdude but it was definitely different from blockdude.
-
okay, here we go:
There are four levels. Press Mode to "Restart" in my weird way since it doesn't really work yet. Clear to quit. 2nd to break blocks or throw a block you have in your hands. Alpha to pick a block up. Moving controls same as block dude. ;)
You can break the "White" blocks, the checkered ones will fall if its ontop of ones you break. And the arrow ones you can pick up. ;)
EDIT: ohm, I'm not beating the last two levels so you guys will have to figure it out yourself. :P

This looks really cool. Great job! ;D
Edit: I just had a chance to test this put, and it's really, really cool. My only complaint is that it registers the same key if I hold it down. I suggest going with getKey->K instead of getKey(#). Other than that, wonderful job! :D
-
This looks nice. It should be called 'Blockdude3 : Blockbreaker' :P
-
Looks awesome!!
/me is a very happy person

yeah, I actually fixed that before I saw your edit. ;)
I don't like getkey->K because its really laggy for moving, so I just put a While getkey (54) loop after the if clause. ;)
Also, I added another level. When I upload it with other levels, could someone play it to make sure there aren't cheap ways to win? because I had to make a lot of changes to make sure it wouldn't be too easy. :P

Alpha: 5 total levels
I need some testers see if there are any bugs, and if there are "easier"/other ways to beat a level. Right now its about 6000 bytes.
Directions same as last time. And yes, Restart doesn't really work. :P
Thanks in Advance!
-
I completed another level. ;)
Also, does anyone have block suggestions? Nothing that will kill you, since its a puzzle game where getting stuck == dying. But more like blocks with special effects.
-
Hey, yunhua98, nice to see that things are going forward.
Sadly enough I can't try it, because I don't own a z80 calc that can run axe (that might change today btw).
About blocks, do you already have on that breaks another one?
For example you brake a block, and somewhere on the other side of the map another block breaks.
And maybe you could make a secret block, of which you don't know the properties.

I can be an alpha tester for you, already sending to my calculator.

Thanks Scout. ;)
also, Jim, that's a great idea! I didn't quite understand it in the maps you gave me, so I edited it a bit. ;)

THis looks nice Yunhua98 :D

This is a project I would like finished :D
