Alternative possible names: "Conveyor", "SortBall"
First, I want to know if this is an original concept on the calculator. (Inspired by a game from the LEGO website, back when it still had decent games - yeah it's removed)
Basically, you can control the direction of the conveyor belts (I'm thinking of using the F1-F5 keys) to sort the balls into the right sacks. Physics will be simple (no parabolic motion, say) to keep the game running fast. Additional elements like teleporters, linked conveyors, floor hatches, mutator machines, and more will be added eventually.
A mockup of the game is shown. Made with good old MS Paint :D
-
If you're going to use F1-F5 make the game sideways. Or find some other control scheme, mr. phenomist sr.
-
Sure, I can make the game sideways. It wouldn't make programming the game much different... as the playing field is essentially square.
But wait, that'd make a fairly awkward game.
-
The best control scheme I can think of is 2nd keys and downward, which would vertically correspond to the conveyor belts. Also I have to say that that mockup looks excelent! :D
-
Wonderful concept! What language? Axe?
-
Yep, it'll be on Axe.
-
That looks interesting actually. I agree with the 2nd-X2 key idea.
-
nice concept! Can't say I ever saw one like it. It seems lie it could be really cool :D
Good luck! And keep us updated :)
-
I remember that LEGO game. It was fun. This looks pretty cool too.
The 2nd-x2 keys would work fairly well.
-
This sounds pretty cool! Good luck. :)
-
So, is that a concept screenshot, or what? Any progress on this?
-
I do believe he has programmed:
.BELTS
Repeat getKey(15)
End
Return
Good progress is being made :P
-
He can optimize that by taking out the return ;) :P
Seriously, can't wait to see what this ends up as...
-
Yes
and he should spell balls as ballz :P
-
ooh, fancy
and i can't recall ever having visited the lego site, but for some reason i recognise that game. good luck with it, anyways, and don't hesitate to ask questions.
oh, and i'm also a fan of the 2nd and downwards keys, as turning the calculator sideways is a little awkward and makes screenshot making more difficult.
-
Well, ease of implementing a level editor, and high level compressability are very high priorities. I might make it the 2nd - up/down system, but a maximum of 5-6 independent sets of conveyor belts would exist nonetheless.
Despite the fact that I know almost nothing about Axe-specific functions right now, very great progress is made! I've already outlined where all the subroutines are going to be!
(I'm trying to plan out as much as I can before actually modifying the code.)
-
Interesting, I would like to see how this will turn out. :)
-
I helped him code an object system while he played on my calculator during stats >.< What a lazy bum.

Lol XD
