Well, since DJ has already added the forum section for this project, I'll go ahead and post about it.
For all of you who haven't been keeping up on IRC, I've been developing a Chip's Challenge clone in 8-level grayscale.
Here are the latest two screenshots:

nice work calc84maniac
I'm happy to see progress on a project cz it's school again in 2 weeks ><
really nice work
EDIT: are those passwords always the same or are they random
else I'm gonna write them down quickly xD
-
Wow how do you make cool graphics like that?
-
THis is friggin awesome. I had an hard time figuring out how to name the project names on front page, though, due to restrictive width. I'm thinking about moving the project list to the center and add screenshots, actually (not animated), to put emphasis on them.
-
Wow, this is great stuff calc84maniac, keep up the good work, hope to see more screenshots. Speaking of screenshots, when do you think the general public will get a whack at this? :D
-
This looks awesome calc84maniac ;D
(I was kind of hoping that you would get bored before you had enough progress to make it official ;), but what's done is done...)
-
This pleases Noah now finish it and don't get bored like everything else.
-
yeah i hope it gets finished soon
-
looks awsome cant wait :)
-
Whipped up a title screen today:

-
HOLY SHIT! THis is fucking awesmome! I guess you used your zoom in/out routines?
-
Yeah, I made a modified, cut-down version which could be used in an APP (and is TI-Nspire compatible). It can only zoom in closer than the actual size though, not farther out (that's the downside)
-
Aaah I see, ok. It also seems to allow you to only zoom one of the axises if you want to, right? (noticing the stretching effect at the end)
-
Yeah, that's another added feature.
-
Update:
I fixed a bug I found while playing through the level set (that is, when Chip pushes a dirt block which is on top of a wall, he ends up on top of the wall. Not good.)
Also, I added an about screen, the contents of which are:
CHIP'S CHALLENGE
FOR TI-83+ v1.00
BY CALC84MANIAC
ORIGINAL CONCEPT
C. SOMMERVILLE
THANKS TO:
TILE WORLD
Edit:
Also, I fixed the Level 88 which was "corrupted" in my level set (an extra wall was added in some versions of the game, which makes the level almost impossible)
-
Glad to see more progress :)
-
Wow this is impressive.
-
Added lowercase letters, which look pretty snazzy. :D Also added is vertical per-pixel scrolling, so Chip can actually be in the center of the play area (you can see half of the top and bottom rows). There were also bug fixes under the hood. On another note, I've played through 147 of the 149 levels.

-
wow nice, I like them better actually. How much % done it is so far? Can't wait to play final version :D
-
I just fixed an evil bug where best times weren't being bested.
-
Does best times takes a lot of space on calc? I notice there seems to be about 40 per levels, which makes it 150x40?

Oh, the Best Times menu shows the times for every level, not just the level you're on. One time is kept per level, and each time is two bytes, so it's only about 149x2 bytes.
Also, I updated the graphics for the teeth monster (which used to look oddly like PacMan):

Oooh ok, shouldnt be too big then. And awesome looking Calc84.
-
wow amazing i cant wait
*geekboy begins to drool
-
This just keeps getting better and better! Can't wait for release! ;D
-
You have just won the internet, good sir! I love Chip's Challenge and I'm glad I can finally play it again and on a portable scale at that!
Good job, calc84maniac, good job. I tip my hat to you :)
-
Okay, I just came up with an overview which could be used in the Ticalc description and the Readme. Any suggestions for improvement are appreciated!
Chip's Challenge for TI-83+ is a clone of the famous puzzle game
of the same name on the Atari Lynx and PC. This is the first
game for the TI-83+ to have 8-level greyscale graphics! Included
are all 149 levels from the PC version of the game. But enough
about that - perhaps you're wondering what this game is all about.
"Nerdy" Chip McCallahan is trying to join an exclusive computer
club called the Bit Busters, but first he must pass the initiation.
Chip has to find his way through a magical clubhouse, which is full
of obstacles and tools like teleporters, invisible walls, pushable
blocks, force floors, water traps, locked doors, and plenty of
monsters. This game will supply hours and hours of nasty puzzle fun!
-
I like it. Btw would this be the first chips clone to be released for calc?

Yes, except for an unfinished one on the TI-89. I think I might add something about that to the description.

Nice, btw I searched ticalc and could only find one clone of Chips Challenge that wasn't another game (renamed) and it was the one you linked to. So it's really a first for z80 calcs
-
I like it. Btw would this be the first chips clone to be released for calc?
Well, technically it is. But you have to keep in mind I have two half-finished versions :D
-
Which I hope you finish tho o.o (*hint: no updates in two months :(*)
-
Yah, ya behter finish it! :P
Seriously though, this is amazing. I like the description :)
