Title: David's Contest Entry
Post by: Munchor on June 01, 2011, 05:16:54 pm
I still haven't got a name, but here's a preview of what my entry will look like, it's a platformer (no scrolling).

You can see the collision and movements are pretty much finished and I also added wall jump :)

Enemies are finished too, but I'll try to add moving enemies as soon as I can.

Note: The numbers are for debugging.

What do you think? There's not much to say I know, but I'm just posting now that the engine is ready.

Very nice screenshot, these platforms look like greenscale.  O.O
Are you going to change the velocity / gravity? These jumps are pretty high.
What will make your platformer special? Does the protagonist can do something special?
Good luck. :)

Increase gravity, walljumping itself can be a great puzzle-maker but you may want to add other stuff, especially as it's not scrolling.

Yeah it's pretty much lacking "oooh shiny" functions for now, but thanks.

yeah, it's most likely because he saved it as a .gif with certain settings.  I don't think it's that big of a deal :P

Anyways, looking Awesome, Scout!  From what I can tell, there's no point to the game ATM, but the physics engine is actually pretty nice.  Great work, can't wait to see more :D

That's not right, I just didn't use Wabbitemu, nor its default GIF Recorder. I used wxwabbitemu with Byzanz.

Looks nice David. Also the green color sometimes happens when I edit a calc screenshot in VirtualDub then save it as GIF.
