There wasn't a lot of progress on Illusiat 13 in the past week, except for about 30 minutes of work earlier this afternoon where the final dungeon saw a bit more progress and a boss added. I am currently trying to make up my mind about if I will re-add the evil wall battle in this dungeon like in Illusiat 9 (search Illusiat 9 on youtube to know what I am talking about)
-
Sweet how much longer do you think it will take to finish?
-
772 years, 26 days, 14 hours, 29 minutes and 36 seconds
-
Kewl demo soon then?
-
lolz hmm, I wonder how old I'd be in 772 years, 26 days, 14 hours, 29 minutes and 36 seconds
-
About X+772 years, 26 days, 14 hours, 29 minutes and 36 seconds with X being your current age.
-
hmm, but then I'd have to actually use my calculator to solve this problem, that's blasphemy! you don't use calculators to solve problems!
-
Yes calculators are only used for games.
-
I know
-
What do you mean? Calculators, are, indeed, used to solve problems. The problem of not having any games readily available :P
But to keep on topic, the noted progress is amazing. Wished I could get something like that done in ASM. Why, then we'd have LL2 in a week or two more. But no. I'm stuck on teh FRAKKING TILEMAPPER!
Aaaanyway. Evil wall battles are fine by me. FF IV did this one and it was HARD to deal with the wall when it came right up to you. Made sure you were at a sufficiently high enough level, or had stuff that would do major damage in a hurry.
-
well you have to think about the fact that I don't have school anymore, which increases progress rate when most ppl still have school here. Also I use ASCII graphics in 16x8 map forms. Because of that I can edit maps directly in the PRGM editor, which increase progress rate considerably. No spriting to do either. However, the game is extremly massive in hours of gameplay and amount of maps (700-ish at least) so that increases the amount of work to be done

Ok, so while still thinking about the evil wall thing, I've also added a monster called "Mime" which looks exactly like your character. This monster is unique in the game in some ways. First, this monster HP is always the exact same as your max HP. Secondly, the higher your stats are, the stronger the monster gets. His elemental weaknesses are similar to yours and he's completly immune to dark magic. He gives more experience and gold at higher level, but not THAT much, so don't expect to abuse fighting this monster to level up all the way to 255 without having to do the side quests. Also, as you can guess by his name, altough it might be unexpected due to the way the battle engine is done, this monster will keep doing the same actions as yours inside battles unless you cast PSY or CURE. For example, if you attack, the next turn he'll attacks too. If you use PYRO, he'll retaliate with PYRO at the exact same level. If, however, you cast PSY (dark magic that absorbs HP) or CURE, he'll do nothing at all. He's not that hard to beat but the way he behaves and the way his stats increases as fast as yours does in average can make him a bit harder to beat sometimes. Don't expect elemental protection or double defense bonuses to help you much, as he'll get these bonuses too, to a certain extent.
-
hmm, this enemy sounds interesting...but couldn't you just cast PSY over and over again to beat him?
-
No, because he's immune to dark magic
-
so basically you can only attack and heal and repeat? that's pretty tough.
-
Nah this battle can be fought in the same way than other traditional battles. The only difference is that this enemy mimics all your stats and elemental defence and will always perform the same action as your last, except if these defenses and actions involves HP healing. For example, if you got 2 vital rings equipped, it raises your defense, so when fighting this monster he will have much higher defense. However, if you got 4 regen rings equipped, which restores your HP every turn, the mime will not mimic that protection. In other words, he won't get any HP restored every turn. If you use PSY or CURE, both magics that can restore your HP, he'll perform no action. Psy absorbs HP from enemies unless they're immune to dark magic (like the mime himself) and Cure obviously restores your HP.
This battle is actually pretty easy. However, if your defense is extremly high, the battle will take A LOOONNG while. If your attack is too high, you'll receive considerable amount of damage from the enemy. I think I will actually show two screenshots of this enemy battle to demonstrate.
First one will be at my current LV. Secondly will be at extremly high LV

First attached screenshot shows me fighting the mime enemy at my current statistics. Second screenshot shows me fighting him with maxed out stats with two additional stat bonuses rings. To avoid giving too much spoilers, I hacked the save file so I can encounter this enemy elsewhere than the final dungeon.

OMG those look amazing!!!
You've got some pretty epic looking attacks there DJ
:D
-
Those look great ;D I especially like the attack animations.

Approximately 8 years and 8 hours ago, I bought my first TI graphing calculator (a TI-83+ with OS 1.12) and started TI-BASIC programming by learning from the TI manual that came with the calc. Sometimes we think new members joining forums and asking help are very young (14-16 years old), but I actually started calc stuff at 14 years old, despite the fact I was to turn 15 only 4 days later

no.
-
Yes
but on a serious note, I assume no one objects to the fact the game currently only allows one save file instead of 3 from Illusiat 6 through 11 and 2 in Illusiat 12 and each remakes included in Illusiat 2004?

I'm fine with it (since I can just make an extra copy of whatever data is used for save games ;) )

sounds good, and I never had a use for more then one...
