Is a QR Code Generator/Reader possible on the 84+?
« on: January 24, 2014, 05:47:47 pm »
Everyone knows what QR codes are, right? Like this:

Well, is it possible to generate and/or read them on the 84+?
Did you know that "Ammonia Gas" rearranged is "As Omnimaga"?

The only way you'll get an 84+ to interpret a QR code, short of attaching a camera to it, is to type it in :P
Here's a link with more info on their structure: https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Reed%E2%80%93Solomon_codes_for_coders

@Soru  thats too much to take :P

I think it will take quite some time if someone makes a generator on calc

YEah reading is impossible because calculators don't have a camera. Of course, it depends what you mean by reading, though. On some sites, you can upload images with a QR code and it reads them, so maybe some sort of converter could be done?
In case you are wondering where I went, I left Omni back in 2015 to form CodeWalrus due to various reasons explained back then, but I stopped calc dev in 2016 and am now mostly active on the CW Discord server at https://discord.gg/cuZcfcF

The user could just convert the bitmap using ImageStudio or TI-Connect then load as 8xi on calc. :P

If someone could make a low-res pocket scanner for the 84+ you'd be able to scan in qr codes.

All good ideas, but I know of the method at thonky.com , and I don't know what the part with the polynomials would equate to.

It'd be cool to see. At least the generation part. The reading though would probably not be worth it because of how long it would take to manually enter all of the things. Maybe a calculator only QR code type? Like a QR code but with a different format.

Give me ideas for games plz :3

Generator is quite doable. I saw someone doing one for Prizms.
