Title: My Challenge For The Year
Post by: pimathbrainiac on January 22, 2013, 03:33:55 pm
I have several projects in the making this year, but I had an idea that could be revolutionary.

A true 3D Portal/FPS (not yet decided) game for the TI-84 using TheMachine02's GLIB library found at http://ourl.ca/17189/333610

The engine's a bit buggy right now, but it should get better (I think)/me pokes TheMachine02

Done so far: Gravity, some physics, part of the UI (just the crosshairs)

Needs to be done: textures, animations, and level building

If Portal: portaling (going through portals), physics, shooting portals

If FPS: mobs and AI

Screenies soon!

*.* *.* *.* *.* indeed

That's pretty intense :P
You've started a few ambitious projects already, hopefully you can finish this one :)

Should be pretty awesome, ive checked out the GLIB project and im pretty impressed.

Just make sure that you take the limitations of the humble calculator into account when planning.

Either way a screenie is always good, i hope we get to see one soon :).

I need some help with textures, since those have not yet been added. I have approached a minor hiccup in the code (can't find the problem, I mean), but I'm going to restart anyway.

Wow, that sounds pretty cool, good luck with it! :D

Crap! Sorunome! Why do you make me lose the game by the sight of your username?

Thanks for all y'all's support! Screenies will be up in less than a week.

I sure hope you know what you're getting yourself into. Keep in mind that we generally discourage hype posts, but if you can pull this off I'd certainly like to see it.

Yeah, I don't know about starting two huge projects.
You have CalcNet mmorpg game and now a 3d portal.

Still hope to see some progress on either of these :)

The MOBA was a bit of an overstep for me, considering that I still don't know much about using CalcNet for matchmaking

The Portal game can actively be worked on, as opposed to the MOBA

In other words, this is my only project at the moment

It took me a while just to get to the point that I was able to make my soundchip. It takes a lot of experience aquired from smaller projects (still pretty complex XD I pushed myself to the limits as well.)
