Due to time constraints (heh), Time Shift will not be happening. But I have started on a much more epic project, that I expect I can finish in time. But I'm keeping most of this hushed up, you won't get anything but the occasional screenshot and sentence or two.

the outline on the scythe looks a little odd. maybe it would be better in grey? an rpg engine sounds wonderful, though. what sort of battle system are you planning?

No details on that front. You'll just have to wait.
Note, however, that the contest requires a puzzle or platformer game, and I intend to meet these requirements.
As for the scythe, it looks better that way on calc, with perhaps the exception of the tip.

Thanks. It will be quite spectacular, and should fit reasonably within my time frame:
4 days for main game engine plus PC-side companion software.
4 days for content creation.
Midnight submission.

The sprites underneath each combatant's information are status ailments. Enemy has poison and paralysis, Player has Silence.

I won't be using crabcake. My program will be quite small.
Also, this is a pixel-perfect mock-up, meaning that the actual screenshot will look exactly the same.

I've made several before. Right now, the issue I'm facing is keeping the grayscale quality consistent.

I was going to ask if this was gonna be platformer/puzzle-related so you do not face the same fate as the 2009 ASM entry, but then I saw in the posts below that it was, so it's fine. A Ys style dungeon game but with turn based battles seems like a good idea to me, although please make it short, since you only have 9 days left. Also looks nice.

Grayscale looks a bit strange in the GIF, but those who have been there for the live webcase previews can attest to it's quality on a real calculator. I also know that the text is cut off on the first class, and I'll be adding word wrapping ASAP.
