Finally xLIB'd this and decided to post it.
Same RPG, but with better graphics and interface.
Read the readme though... it'll cover a lot of questions.

Looking great, but I am not sure what is causing me not to have anything on the screen at the menu..Am I missing a pic?

Awesome game, but kalan I can't even find the menu ;.;

The menu? You mean when you press [MODE]?
It just uses the 'menu(' command right now, so I don't know why you'd have that problem.

Also, thanks for locating that invalid dim error, Omni. =P

EDIT: Just noticed that ABATTLE error in omni's screenshot...
Odd... that's never happened to me before...
Does it happen all the time?

EDIT2: Updated the first post with install instructions. Double-check that everything is where it's supposed to be. =P

Yes, xLIB. My first experiences with it too. =D
(I also made all the sprites used.)
The new battle system will blow you out of the water though. At least... when I've finished it. ^_^

what I like the most is how it's pretty fast.  nice work :)

The main thing to speed up is the shop menu.
It was hard to even DO, then I need to optimize it... >_<

But anyway... yeah, I'm working on the new battle system as we speak.
Same formulas, but it'll be HIGHLY graphically advanced.
Graphics for all creatures, attacks, spells, etc.
It'll rock. =D
After that: Better options/stats screens and new inventory.

It's good to see this in progress again. I'll try right away.

Thanks. =D
Make sure to follow the readme well...
A lot of errors can be avoided that way... >_<
I'll have a screenie of the new battle system by tomorrow.
Though it won't be ready until at LEAST sometime this weekend.

it is good, but it could do with some better graphics

Graphics are hard to do x.x

It took me 3 months to make the entire graphics in the Reign of Legends 3 and for Reuben I had to rip sprites from FInal Fantasy Gameboy for the monsters

Exactly as omnimaga said.
I'll be working on better graphics in time.
I'm more focused on gameplay at the moment.
Plus, life is in the way (and my forums which will need constant work with for at least another month).

graphics are hard, but with xlib they are easy
what is hard is putting those graphics into a game and still have it run fast

Which is what I did... minus the fact that I'm not much of a TI-artist.
Drawing them is my problem really.

well, I didn't meant hard graphics as to put them in the game. I meant that it's hard to draw good 8x8 or 16x16 sprites if you're not a pixel artist

but keep in mind somebody has to make sprites first.

he's already using xlib isn't he?

He is using xlib, you could always change sprites later ;P

Thank you. =D
Here's a quick screenie of the new battle system.
I got frustrated and just used a quickly done 'Black Mage' sprite as the character.
Note: There will be a background, eventually.

I like everything but the sprites... but I'll work on those later.
First, comes general recoding, then attack effects, then sprites for every class/creature, and finally finalizing the sprites.

...Actually, I'm kinda hoping to get creature/character sprites from a pixel-artist around here... but if I can't I'll work on it.
It'll just take longer.

The battle screen with the black mage on it looks pretty nice. I'd say the graphics overall look fine (world map too). I wouldnt worry about it to much . There are alot of general use sprites that have been made by people here too.*cough* Kevin *cough* Most people probably wont mind letting you use them, just be sure to ask. ^_^

That looks pretty good.  I like how you kind of decorated the border between the characters and the stats with curvy lines.

pretty nice

maybe align both hp meters together so one's below the other.

I would've aligned them... but creature names get long sometimes. Whereas You never changes.

Otherwise, I would've.
