Well, I decided to start silence 2 from the scratch. :D
This time, It'll include more Axe for speed purpose.

Looks epic.
-
Awesome!!! :D
-
Thanks guys. I took a lot of time drawing that title screen on-calc. :P
Also, how do you guys think about text effects?
-
It just looks sooooooooooooo cool!
-
Also, how do you guys think about text effects?
the evaporating text? it look awesome!!! :D
-
I know this is still reeeeeaaaaly early in development, but it looks fantastic so far. Your graphic work looks superb! Are you going to include a few cutscenes in game similar to what is shown in the opening?
-
That's what I'm planning to and that's one of the reason that I restarted this project. ;D
Also, I still have all the source files from Silence 1 so game engine shouldn't be too hard to make.
The only things that will waste my time is drawing all the pics O.o
EDIT: Oh. BTW, you guys know that this is Point and Click games, right?
-
Yup, at least I do. Also may I ask how you do that text effect?
-
WOW I never got silence 2 working it gave errors for me so I cant wait to play it!
-
Yes Yeong, I knew it was point and click. =)
-
I dont like most point and click games but Silence was outstanding
-
Double post...
Btw, looks very nice Yeong!
-
I dont like most point and click games but Silence was outstanding
Yes it was.
(You don't like Myst ? :P )
-
More likely he doesn't own a 89 :P
-
WOW I never got silence 2 working it gave errors for me so I cant wait to play it!
Yeah, I know. D:
That's the other reason that I restarted this project.
Somehow, it gave people error and wiped their calculator for some reason.
-
Now the new game screen!
Also, I used my old cursor routine so people who played silence before can get used to play silence 2 quickly. :D
(or just simply being lazy :P )
-
Looks great
-
I think I remember seeing the first game in the serie and it seemed pretty nice. I'M glad there's a sequel. It reminds me of one of the game in last year's Cemetech contest.
-
Clash of Dimension? :D
-
Looks awsome, just like silence1! I can't wait to play this.
Have you also ever thought of combining contrast effects to that evaporating text and using contrast instaed of grayscale for the fade-in at the start? But anyway, it already looks awesome.

Thanks for idea. I might use that soon. ;)

Actually I do but it is in my Aunt's storage and I think Myst will be my first game to try

If anyone's interested, this is the concept/code of the evaporating stuffs.

And here is my attempt (we discussed on irc, it is ok that I post it). It evaporates the whole buffer (the beginning of each code is to prepare the buffer, to have something to evaporate ;)) and may be unoptimized :P
WARNING: It evaporates the whole buffer !!!

Here's the test version if you want to try.
Run prgmSILENCE2.
2nd is to select, and mode+2nd is to quit. enjoy!
It's really short, btw.
Oh. Also, you need DCS7, and everything is archived.
-
Um, I hate to be the one to point this out, but "vengance" is spelled with an A. ^^;
-
D:
I'll fix that. XP
-
Now I finished making a storyline. :D
So I can make progress now XD
Also, my futile attempt of drawing Jane Pierce

Thank you :D
School scanner sux D:
-
I decided to work on prequel of this along with sequel. :D
Also, prequel will be about Rickey(If you played Silence 1, you'll know. ) and it will be a platformer.
so far, I got basic engine almost done, so yeah. :D
Screenshot soon(maybe Monday)

Dang, those are some amazing graphics...
What about making the whole thing in Axe, so users won't have to keep track of multiple programs?

I wish I could, but I don't think I can fit the whole thing in one program D:

Looks awesome. :D

I know those sprites

I'm reusing the sprites from Grammer Run :D

I wish I could, but I don't think I can fit the whole thing in one program D:
You could use Fullrene (raises the limit to all of RAM) or make it an app (limit to all of archive).
-
except for that the whole game will be like 20~40k when it's done D:
-

O.o
If it is data that takes that much space, you can store them in an appvar and keep it in archive (the appvar must be created by another program)
But if the problem is not Data, I don't know...

Yeah.. I'm meaning without data XP
(Picture files will be like 768*100 or something close to it)
-
Wait so your program is 20-40K with or without data?
-
without data D:
(Unless I get to optimize my routines, then maybe I could chop off like 10k)

OK, guys, so I have something to ask you guys :D
It will be grateful(you will get on the credits) if you...help me with some drawing pictures :D
It's taking me too long and I want to finish it by January so :D
Every time I ask something like this, I spam smiley face. :D
So, if you are willing to give me a hand, here's the scene that you can draw:
-Inside the Office building
-Cave
-Jail
Or you can help me optimize my routines (I'll post it tomorrow) since the routines are taking too much space (3~4k)
Thanks again.

This must be pixel art, right? And a certain specific size?
-
oh. It's just a picture file, so it is 96x64. :D (or 95x63 so you can work on calc)
-
But do you want us to draw the level or just the sides(up and down) that would give the impressiob you're in a cave or prison?
-
Oh. I'm talking about silence 2, so it is a full screen scenery
-
Oh ofcourse. xD
I'll see if I can do something.
EDIT:
What about this as office building:
-
Oh ofcourse. xD

O.O
I'll take that! :D

I cant wait!
-
here's my interpretation of a jail:
-
I can work on a Jail....do you want it from the inside looking out...or out looking in?
OH nicks is cooler...I was doing a Jail CELL* lol
-
you could still make on that is better, or merge them together..
-
or have two jail parts....in the cell and a commons area...I'll post mine in a sec
edit:
Heres my Jail...looking out from inside
edited: and a cave...looking in (might need a little cleaning up)
-
wow, amazing! great work, really
-
Really? Thanks:) this is my first time using paint to draw stuff, so I didnt know if it was good or not :) Thanks for the reassurance
-
Oh! I was busy on a jail too. XD
-
now we have a jail commons, looking in, looking out, a cave, and a office.....?
-
yep, i think he has everything he wants :) let's get back to work..
no, i'm quite astonished by you both, your graphing skills are really good..
and as you can see, the exercises with myst (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/439/43990.html) helped stefan a lot lol
-
lol...just so I'm not seen as TOO good at this or anything...I jused used MSpaint...I sized the screen to 96x64, clicked control+page down, painted in all black (paint has some cool texturing stuff) and so on.... lol It's easy on paint :P
edit: but thank you :)

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Also about myst, I didn't draw every picture by hand, but I did edit the original color pictures, with different effects and stuff(which still was pretty long for one picture).
-
Yours are still REALLY GOOD! I love the realism! like the torn up wall, and bumpy pillow! very very nice job
-
:) Thanks. I use photoshop, and zoom the entire screen up so it's easier to work. I don't know if paint has that too.
-
Yeah paint does (I wouldn't have been able to do the super small texture stuff otherwise! I like paint :)
-
Okay. Help me decide, guys :D
So I added a little music in menu screen but it's 4.2k now D:
should I leave it on or not?
-
Well i dont have anything to use to listen to the music, and thats a hefty amount of space, so i might say not worth it..... Oh and do u like my cave or jail?
-
yes, I do, indeed. :)
-
use them? lol *saintrunner finds that awesome* :) Thanks
-
Okay. Help me decide, guys :D

Why not make 2 different versions?
-
This is the main background for a comic book I once made. I thought I'd draw it for you for no apparent reason.
-
I'd keep the music out IMHO. Not many people will be able to enjoy it.
-
although, it might be a good idea to post a video of it with the sound....I'm interested as to what it sounded like :)
-
I just stumbled upon Axe 1.1.1. Omg gotta love that Z-Test XD
Oh. for now, I'm making a quick response sequence (people who played silence 1 will know what I'm talking about) so I might post that within a week.
Also, picture of some kind of sci-fi lab will be grateful :D
-
Clash of Dimension? :D
Yeah that one.
Also what is Z-Test? ???
-
What it does is it jumps to label according to expression.
So if I type Z-Test(A,01,02,03
it will go to lbl 01 if A is 0, lbl 02 if A is 1, etc

WOAH!! spyro wins
edit' much better hen mine ^^
-
Wow, that looks awesome Spyro! O.O
-
Yeah great job!...mines a fail..I did it in five minutes
-
Thanks guys :)
-
I'll end up taking both. :D (I need much pictures I can get :P )
-
I'll make as many as you will need :)
Just tell me what you need
-
Ok, maybe I'm asking too much, but if you can optimize these routines for me, I will put you on credits. :D (I need more people in credits because it'll be long.)
-
Give credits to the people who make pictures! :3
-
I am. :D
I want credits to be about 30~45 seconds unlike silence 1. (4 seconds?)
-
wow, I don't think I've been in any ones credits before... THANKS :) and I'll check those routines.
edit: ok so I got lazy and just put it into the Cemetech source coder, and it made these changes if your interested
-
thanks :D
That was the one that I wanted to optimize the most.
-
sure thing, I'll do the rest of them after I eat dinner :)
-
here some of the other optimization's
-
Erm... saintrunner? I think axe will throw error at getKey(15 .
Also, for TB(text thingy, third one must be blank (") because otherwise, it will show up some crazy letters.
-
I told u up above i just put them through the cemetech optimization thing, and thats what it said. Sorry for any mistakes with that
-
SourceCoder is for BASIC, not Axe, and it's not really optimizing—just stripping out unnecessary braces and quotes, which causes a whole host of problems in Axe. If you want to optimize Axe, you need to sit down and think the whole thing through.
-
Yeah, I figured that out after looking through some of them. I try and do some REAL optimizations later
-

Run prgmSILENCE2.
2nd is to select, and mode+2nd is to quit. enjoy!
It's really short, btw.
Oh. Also, you need DCS7, and everything is archived.
I tried it(in jsTIfied 8D). It's indeed not very long, but it's pretty nice already.
I don't know if it was me, but when I changed to another tool, my cursor was always autmatically dragged to the left.
Anyway, I hope you haven't given up on this.
-
I actually like both sci-fi labs images, the first one reminded me of some Star Ocean teleporter rooms. :D
-
I LOOOVE the menu TBO!
This will be great :D

I haven't. It's just in pause. However, I might move from All-Axe to Basic/Axe mix just like Silence 1.
I LOOOVE the menu TBO!
This will be great :D
Thanks. :D
-
I might implement this in Silence 2.
Any comments? (e.g. some part looks awkward.)
-
Woah! That looks awesome and would definetely be a plus if you can implement it :)
-
yeah. If I do manage to implement it, I'll save a lot of bytes (b/c I won't need a lot of picture files anymore, but rather some sprites XD)
-
On behalf of aeTIos, I'll be posting storyline here. It's ok. It's the time before Silence 1. :)
Prologue(13 years before Silence 1)
Dan, who was one of the researchers for project Achilles, gets the suspicion of spilling information to 3rd party research group, and gets hunted down by certain group, led by chief researcher Mac. But the true motive of Mac is to eliminate any researchers that are not in his side and use the project for his own purpose. While Dan escapes the underground research lab, he finds the little girl who are getting bullied and called “failure,” since her development was deteriorating compared to others. Dan brings her out with him, free all the other children, and burn the entire lab. Once he gets out, he realizes that the girl whom he rescued was the daughter of his assassin friend, Natalie Pierce, who mysteriously disappeared. He decides to take revenge on Mac, who managed to survive, and raise Jane to be full-pledged assassin just like how her mother was.
13 years Later (Setting for Silence 1)
Jane grows up, who was now one of the top assassin of Dan. She gets into the romantic relationship (dating) the kind guy named Mickey. One day, when Jane and Mickey was in Mickey’s house for coffee, some men barges in, and shoots Jane with dart gun loaded with unknown substance. They try to take Jane, but Rickey attempts to stop them, giving Jane enough time to escape the scene. Jane, who knew she couldn’t escape the house, hides in Mickey’s closet and lose consciousness. Mickey gets shot by now furious men, resulting him to death. The group thinks that Jane escaped the house, and leaves the house, except one man…
