Hey guys,
I'm getting pretty swamped with projects. I can handle it, but its going to take a while to get them all done. So, I want the community's opinion. Please rank the following projects in order of how much work I should spend on each:
- tiDE
- Mosaic
- KnightOS
- HL2: OC
- Advance Wars
-
Advance Wars (because I think you're close to done with that)
Mosaic
HL2:OC
tiDE
KnightOS
-
Advance Wars
HL2:OC
Mosaic
KnightOS
tiDE
-
So far, looks like Axe projects are going to gain priority. Also looks like no one cares about KnightOS or tiDE, so I'll work on those less. Continue posting, though, so I get a more rounded opinion.
-
Mosaic //Mosaic is one of my highly anticipated projects from anyone
Advance Wars //It's your Axe entry, plus it sounds neat
HL2: OC //I like how it looks so far
KnightOS //It seems like it would take a ton of time and I don't think you're very far with it
tiDE //Although I think I'll use it, I don't have as much comp access so Mosaic would be my best way of programming in Asm.
That's my opinion. :)
-
It seems like it would take a ton of time and I don't think you're very far with it
Thanks for the feedback, but I would like to say that the KnightKernel (the kernel that KnightOS is supported on) is about half done, and is an extremely powerful base for an OS that will make it incredibly easy to finish KnightOS.

Oh, then with that I must slightly re-rate. :)

Okay then! I'll take that into consideration. By the way, the KnightKernel will be released separately from KnightOS so that others can program against it.
-
HL2: OC
Advance Wars
KnightOS
Mosaic
tiDE
Keep in mind I may be biased due to the fact I don't do low level programming and program on-calc only, so the dev stuff is at the bottom of the pile.
Also since on Omnimaga, most people program in BASIC or Axe and the site is more game-oriented/high level dev oriented when it comes to projects attention, this might explain why the two games are at the top of the list. I am pretty sure on Cemetech you might have different results.
EDIT: It would also be nice to put a description of each projects in the first post so new members can know what they are, because not everyone saw the topics or remember. In fact, I did not even remember it was you who were working on an Advance Wars clone x.x

tiDE
KnightOS (In hopes that someone will eventually crack the nspire's RSA)
HL2: OC
Advance Wars
Mosaic
Honestly, I kinda need a PC-based IDE. Interesting how mine is so different from other people's.
-
Got to say, I really can't wait to see an actual 3rd party OS completed
I can't wait to have this :P
we really need a good on calc ASM editor
what can I say, I love half life :P
-
1. Mosaic // I never understood the name, though.
2. KnightOS // Can't wait for someone to finish a relatively complete 3rd-party OS.
3. tiDE // Just wondering: why are t and i lowercase?
4. HL2: OC // Seems promising.
5. Advance Wars // Don't really know what it is...
My list seems different, probably because I rarely download calculator games for the fun of playing :P
They seem pretty fun nonetheless.
EDIT: Hmm, ninja'd by Eeems with a similar list.
-
lol, nice :P I'm just ninja
-
Adv Wars //one of my fav handheld games ever, especially Dual Strike, rivaled only by Pokemon and Zelda
Knight OS // 3rd party OS w/ multitasking, etc.? Win
HL2 // Like DJ, I'm not that into the low lvl stuff, especially since Axe came out (I was just about to start learning ASM when it came out, so then I was like......this looks more interesting)
tiDE / Mosaic tie for last: as I said, I don't do z80 or any kind of coding on the comp...so I can't really have a preference for either of them :P
-
Sir, they all seem to be getting a lot of attention. What's your list? ;D
-
My list is:
KnightOS
tiDE
Mosaic
Advance Wars
HL2: OC
-
YAY that's almost what I had :P
-
So, after compiling the results, the current lineup of projects is, in the order of the most time I will spend on each:
KnightOS
Advance Wars
Mosaic
HL2: OC
tiDE
If anyone has any objections, let me know.
-
Well I would like tiDE higher up on the list, but that's ok, I really want KnightOS done, so it's fine where it is.
-
Yeah, I want tiDE up further, and I'll probably work on it a bit more than the list implies ;)
-
I just hope that someone will find a way to get knightOS on the nspire eventually, maybe with ndless.
-
well, depending on how well the in-progress emulator is going... and how flexible it'll be.
-
tiDE
knightOS
every thing else
i really want tide done it looks epic just like all the other editors out there ^^
knightOS for the same reason as eeems
and the other 3 when they get done but adv wars up higher cause its for the contest (i think?!?)
-
Well, tiDE has been bumped a slot thanks to Geekboy
KnightOS was already on top :P
I may be able to make an installer for KnightOS in the form of a TIOS application, I was already planning on this.
-
Seems good I guess. Just make sure to finish your entry in time :P
As long as you don't kill any of the project completly I am fine ^^. It's also good to not have too many projects at once, else you can lose motivation due to having too many and everyone wanting them to be finished soon :P Or they end up all finished in about 5 years (example: Pokémon Purple started in September 2005 x.x)
-
Yeah, I don't plan on dropping any, and I will try and get out betas and the like.
-
nice to hear :D
So did you do a final decision on what you are working on next, now?
-
Well, right now I'm working on KnightOS, seeing as it is on the top of the list. I'm going to bump tiDE up the list a ways, too.
-
Aaah ok.
One thing I hope, though, is that Advance Wars won't get bumped down eventually x.x. You might be running out of time for the contest in the later case x.x On the other hand maybe new features will be added in Axe so we never know.
-
Well, I don't have my calculator back yet, so I may not be able to work on it for a while :(
-
aaah ok well I hope you get it back or can eventually work on it in other means (such as WabbitEmu or if Cemetech gets unblocked, SourceCoder2.)
-
I hope you'll be able to finish all these eventually. :) All I can say is I'm glad Mosaic's not at the bottom. ;D
-
I felt like I needed another reorder. ;D
Mosaic //Mosaic is one of my highly anticipated projects from anyone
KnightOS //It seems to be a neat project. I like how it's turning out.
tiDE //Although I think I'll use it, I don't have as much comp access so Mosaic would be my best way of programming in Asm. The mors I see, the more I like it. =)
Advance Wars //It's your Axe entry, plus it sounds neat
HL2: OC //I like how it looks so far
To summarize, once Mosaic's done, I'll use it as much as I use Axe. :D (I am really leaning towards on calc Asm stuff.)
-
Phew I thought you were quitting Axe Ztrumpet x.x
I personally feel the Advance Wars should be higher, though. The issue is that if he prioritize everything else, he will never get enough time to finish Advance Wars for the contest deadline. Remember the deadline is only 3 months away.
-
Phew I thought you were quitting Axe Ztrumpet x.x
No, I'm just finally starting to understand Asm. :)
-
I know the feeling, man. For the longest time, Asm frustrated me and I just didn't get it. But once I started to understand, it was awesome.
-
yeah it looks like for most people, ASM is hard to learn but not too hard to code
