So, I'm working on a sequel to Spacky Emprise. The main feature of Spacky 2 is going to be the addition of hologram blocks - a concept similar to dimension shifting. Anyways, have a screenie:

Any feature requests? I'm completely open to any ideas. Also, can anyone offer any graphics support? I'm really bad at making menus and stuff like that look nice.
-
Wow, this looks fantastic! I can't wait to see some of the puzzles you'll make with this ^^
-
Thanks. The engine was really easy (I used at least 80% Spacky Emprise code) so I should be able to focus on levels and content.
-
are you gonna add physics to this? Although that'll be sorta hard with the tilemapper...
-
Yeah, I wasn't really planning on adding in realistic gravity and stuff like that. Hopefully that won't make too much of a difference.
EDIT: Now that you mention it...
-
Not saying that Spacky Emprise was bad, but this looks a hell of a lot more fun that just rushing and jumping. Nice new mechanics (tho I never played the whole first game, so I don't know what the rest of it is like)
-
I agree, Spacky Emprise is a bit ... lacking.
-
Not to be picky, but may I request a main character sprite reboot? It looks fine in most poses, but in some he seems to stretch horizontally, and the walking steps don't flow very well.
-
Hmmm...I'll think about it :)
-
/me hopes this one doesn't have that ghost as well :P
Is it possible for when the character is falling for the screen to show more underneath it/him? Atm it's king of hard to tell where it's going :/
-
Don't worry the ghost is gone :) lol

Yeah, no problem.

I can offer to help when I get back onto my computer tomorrow. Until then, LEAVE HIM ALONE!!! HES JUST AN INNOCENT PLACEHOLDER

um, lol? :)

Okay, awesome. The animations I use are melting (5 pics), standing there (his little rocking out to the music in his head type routine - 3 pics), running (I think also 5 pics), jumping (3 pics), actually standing still (1 pic) and that's it. I'm interested to see what you come up with. Oh and all the pics are 16*16.
-
Is he still the silicon creature from the original story?
-
awesome :) is it okay if I make him look a bit different? What should I be exactly aiming towards, something like a robot?

Yeah (most likely), and he still melts and stuff but only when he touches spikes.

Um, not totally sure what you mean, he's just a 16*16 sprite, centered in the middle
Oh and try not to change him too much cause he looks awesome on the menu (thanks to leafiness0)

Okay, I'll try to keep him generally the same.
-
Okay, transfer both files to your calc and compile ASPK and run SPACKYT. It'll just display the menu, and you can use that code to build off of.
-
Thanks.
-
That's awesome. Nice job on both the menu and the game. It looks great! :D
I actually would like to see the ghost on this, if he's like Boos in Mario.
Also, I agree that it would look better with physics, but I understand if you don't add them. :)
Good luck with it! ;D
-
How many levels would you guys like to see on this game? I'm not sure how long to make it. The target time frame for each level is like five to ten minutes to figure out.
-
Around 20 levels as a maximum point? That would be awesome, especially as each one will take that long to figure out ^^
-
Yeah, that'd be awesome! :D
-
Okay, I'm on it.

Anyone interested in beta testing Spacky 2? I have ten working levels with hologram cubes, turning lights on/off, variable height jumping, wall jumping, and that's it so far in terms of game elements. I need beta testers to help me find bugs, design better levels (maybe) and help come up with more game elements. PM me or post here if you're interested.
