Title: Starcraft: Zeratul -- An RPG in the works
Post by: Hot_Dog on December 31, 2010, 01:13:54 am
To help test some of the features in Correlation, I will be working on an RPG game called Starcraft: Zeratul.  This will be a non-canon account of an event between Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm.

Zeratul will be the main character (and the only character you can control), but the game will also have Jim Raynor, Artanis, the Fallen One and Arcturus Mengsk.  I'm also creating 5 additional Characters:

The Great Devourer -- A Guardian of the Overmind's Soul
Sperca -- A Queen
Percasas -- A Male Hydralisk
Kervon -- The first Immortal you could play as in the mission "A Sinister Turn", meaning he's stayed with Zeratul during the entire mission
Lucricia -- A Female Zealot

That seems cool, I hope not too many bugs arise in Correlation so that can also progress smoothly. I'm interested in how this will turn out. :)

I would love this!!! It would add to the epicness if it was transferred into being a Starcraft custom map as well.

That would be nice indeed, but I have almost no experience with the campaign editor :(

Yeah, it will definitely be a demo people can look at, but thanks to all the volunteers (WOW), it's not going to be the only game with screenshots to show off

A splash screen is normally not a great "screenshot," but I wanted to show people that I got fonts up to 16x16 working, as well as e^(.  You can now display whole pictures in Ti-Basic without having to use picture variables!

Code:

real(ZERATULL
e^(0,0,"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWX
Pause

No, not yet, don't worry :D  I'm just making this game to test it while it's being coded

By the way I forgot, but can the fonts be archived? With pics like this we might run out of RAM fast.

Yes!  Although you don't use them much

Sorry, no progress updates yet.  I'm having a very serious bug occuring with Repeat...End and While...End, and I know that it's related to Correlation.  However, I will say that I'm going to include a very special--though unrelated to Starcraft--reference to Omnimaga somewhere in the game.  You'll have to find out where, but it will be none other than the Netham lobster!

Sorry to hear, I hope you can fix it soon. Good luck! Also I hope to find out about the lobster. :P

To clarify, it won't be smooth as in scrolling every pixel 30 times per second, but it will be fast for TI-BASIC+libs. I also love the map size by the way.

Keep on the lookout:  I am typing the storyline and script (Meaning what the characters say) that I had in mind for this game.  The storyline/script will be open source and you can use it for anything--SC/SC2 campaign designer, TI-83+, etc.  Incidentally, if anyone skilled in RPGS wants to continue this project for a calculator, I will gladly do the sprite art

Oh darn that would be great. It would be nice if someone made a custom campaing for SC2. Also are you plannign to release the source, in case someone wants to continue working on the game as it was?
