Title: Tamagochi
Post by: jsj795 on November 09, 2009, 02:08:06 pm
I was thinking about making a Tamagochi for the calculator.
It's probably only for the TI 84+ since it will use the internal clock.

I't just idea, what do you guys think????

Sounds cool.
Make sure it has neat animations.

By the way, my sister loves this: http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/archives:bunny-gotchi

Yeah, but it'll probably be more complicated, like a real-time Tamagochi
Like, it'll die if you don't attend to it too often, will get hungry even if you didn't run the program, etc.
Well, I've never played the game, so I don't know what the features are, but yeah.
And I might not make the game depending on incentives

Mhmm maybe it would be a good idea, altough I personally might not play, since I was never into that kind of stuff. Keep in mind that I was born way before the tamagotchi era, though :P

Don't try to duplicate the actual Tamagochi too much on purpose, try to be creative, and you might come up with something better than the origional ^^

And always remember this: things with ninjas, pirates or zombies in it are always way better than things without ninjas, pirates or zombies in it. That is because ninjas, pirates and zombies are the three most awesome things ever.

And coming from outer-space is also positive.

I like the outer space part...

I can make two versions, boys version with all the ninjas, pirates, and zombies, with outer space thing,
and the girls one, with usual cute animals.
I just came up with this idea after talking about how there are no girls in TI community, especially here

This does sound like a great idea, but I caution you.
Try and focus on one project at a time.

I have a bad habit of starting several projects and never finishing them.
Besides, it's a good idea to keep focused.

If you can handle it though, by all means, do as you please.
Just my advice. =P

Uh huh, I probably won't even touch on this until I get the main engine done in TLM.

Cool.
I like TLM, so this is okay to sit and wait. :)

I have multiple progects, but I tend to concentrate on one of them at a time.

I never really had much projects at once, simply because during my peak of programming activity, I had no computer at home (couldn't afford it) and usually i worked so much on my games in one day that I did not get time to get new ideas before I finish it. Unfortunately, though, often, I got new ideas right when I was about to do the ending of a RPG, for example, and I absolutely wanted to put them in code form. That, combined with always running out of RAM near the end of game dev, caused endings of pretty much all my calc RPGs to suck. In some cases, you beaten the final boss and it went straight to "The End" screen

Yay! I beat him/it!
Oh, the game's over.  :-\

It's amazing that you made so many Illusiats in such a quick amount of time.  :)

I believe I have a bunch of videos on youtube that actually shows some games final bosses + endings that ends this way.

But yeah back then I was so addicted to calculators that it was even worse than a WoW addiction O.O

Basically, during the second half of 2002 I made 7 RPGs, two of which were done in one single month (Illusiat 7 and 8 in July 2002). I guess that's a bit why I didn't have much patience to wait progress for some calc projects on Internet forums afterward :P)

There's life in my way, and I am kinda slow in developing a program. I usually code like crazy when I'm on a roll, and stop coding for like a week, and repeat the cycle. Sometimes the roll goes on for long, and sometimes not :P

You also need to make sure to not drop a chair on your calc screen or the like halfway through developpement.

That hasn't stopped me! It only made it a little darker at Output(4,8 :)

If you didn't notice, my progress on Oasis has gone up by 25% since I droped that chair! :)

Lol, I am kidding btw :P it's just that the first time I ever saw the UTI topic I laughed :P. However, at least, you didn't let your calc BSOD during 3 minutes several dozens of time :P

I just came up with this idea after talking about how there are no girls in TI community, especially here

Go for the special enhanced boy version (with mudkipz),

I beg to differ :P (altough if you mean girls who actually program calculators, then you are right, though)
