The updated Multilevel Grayscale Kit
« on: September 27, 2008, 03:00:40 am »
Alright, I'm back, this time with a even better grayscale editor supporting, 3 , 4, and 5 level grayscale!
The editor lets you easily create the "definition layers" which it will use to generate the XOR sequence. Using this sequence of generated pics, non-destructive flickerless grayscale is created by simply XORing them in a loop. This time a readme is included. It is fairly well documented, however, I plan on adding even more information, particularly on the generation procedure. The package also contains two programs. One is the full editor and renderer, and one is a simple renderer useful when RAM is limited. If you have a chance, feel free to test it out and give me some feedback.

w00t glad to see it's finally out. I love the readme so far. I think it will only need some more program examples and reference to future examples that will be included and Omnimaga link when it's finished, but so far it's pretty good. I'll try the new programs when I get some time

It rocks  ;D

I'm going to use it for a grayscale RPG BASIC game (it's going to be in french - does anyone know a french TI forum?Thx).

Hello,

that would be cool to see a new RPG come out. We used to have a french section here on Omnimaga but only two people (including me) used it so I didn't opened it again when we moved on SMF. However for a good french TI forum I would recommend TI-Bank forums or the TI-z80 forums on Yaronet

http://tibank.forumactif.com/
http://www.yaronet.com/forum.php?s=493

The only problem is that in the french TI community pretty much nobody cares about RPGs, which is why in 2004 I stopped making french versions of my games (hence why some of my old games are only in french while new ones are only in english). I think in france there aren't a lot of RPG fans. Here in Quebec, it's the opposite: there are lot of RPG fans, but no one cares about calculators. :(

(On a side note I really need to translate Mana Force 1 and 2, Mystique: La Larme Du Dragon and Illusiat 2004 in english someday, but this will take a long while x.x)

EDIT: There actually used to be a french internet relay chat channel called #omnimaga-fr. I think it was the only french TI-83+ one. However I shutted it down because the IRC network admin had to ban Wanadoo users due to a spambot invasion from there (they would send bad links to trojan/spywares via private message and keep join/parting channels)

If you want, I can do that, it won't be too difficult I think. By the way, my RPG game is going to be based on "Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk", maybe you know that?

Mhmmm never heard of it, is it a calc game? As for Mana Force I will probably do it myself as some point. I think you should do an english version of your game when it's completly finished in french though because more people would be able to play then. Of course if it's really simple in term of storyline and there are barely any convos then maybe english people will be able to play anyway though. Just a suggestion

links:
http://www.penofchaos.com/warham/donjon.htm
http://www.naheulbeukauquebec.com/

+a PC game based on it:
http://www.ddnlejeu.com/

Its an MP3 saga, a sort of parody on RPGs. It's very famous in France, they even have concerts!

I don't think I'll do my game in English, as the whole point of it is to make it based on this french MP3 saga.

By the way, the Multilevel Grayscale Kit doesn't seem to work with Celtic III....

oh I see now, then it wouldn't be a good idea in english, since jokes cannot be translated. As for Celtic III I would advise against relying on it for xLIB compatibility because it's not finished yet and will not be in a very long while according to Iambian. 3 games I tried in it didn't worked fine

If you arn't working on it already, I can make a sprite maker program...
Just give me a word :P

Anyway, I was wondering, do you have any examples of routines to move a character in a background with grayscale? 'Cause I don't know if my method is fast enough to do it in grayscale.

This would be insanely huge though O.o but if only 16x16 it would be doable I think
