Wouldn't having a large, detailed overworld take up the same amount of space (unless you are purposely making it emptier for RLE purposes)?

Anyway, I'm not sure what I'd want...Obviously a large overworld that is just...empty is no good, but having an extremely cramped one (like the original pokemon ones) won't necessarily be better. Like all the other questions, I'd say try and find a balance

yeah, but I don't ahve the time to fill a huge map up with tons of stuff, with a smaller map, I can spend the same amount of time and make it more prettyful, but with a bigger map all I'll have time to really do is to make sure it actually works :P

I kinda like large maps, personally, as long as they're not the same size as in Zelda Windwaker. There are less details but then it means you can hide secret islands and stuff easier. :P That would take lots of space, though, unless you use RLE compression or something.

New poll, this one is a bit more serious and I would like to know the common opinion :)  Personally, I'm leaning towards mostly just exploration items.

Exploration items should be fine IMHO, especially that it's an ARPG, not regular RPG.

explor explor explore....just try not to pull a links awakening where the hookshot/<insert other items> is more usefull than the sword on regular enimies...

i remember in Links awakening i could just use the magicrod/hook shot on every thing they made the l2 sword obsolete
