Title: Yumé [Adventure/RPG, Series]
Post by: TsukasaZX on August 23, 2010, 10:52:35 pm
Yumé (from Yume, Japanese for "dream") is an adventure game for the TI-83+ and TI-84+ graphing calculators.

The game centers around a young girl named Nanami who has found herself trapped in the strange Dream World of Yumé. Worse off, the longer she stays within this strange nightmarish place, the weaker she feels. Something is draining her Life Force. She must find a way to escape from Yumé before she loses all of her Life Force and perishes.

- From the Read Me file

Yumé is a non-linear adventure game. It's entirely up to the player to explore the Dream World, uncover its secrets, and figure a way to escape. Your Life Force Points are slowly but constantly draining so you can't meander in one place for too long. Your only minute salvations are re-spawning Life Force Orbs scattered throughout that "heal" you a little.

All but the first two are BETA Images. The only differences between BETA and the finished version are layout changes, removal of the run indicator, and a swap from Pause commands to any-key getkey repeat loops. I will update this post with newer images when I stop being lazy and actually screenshot some :P

Important Information
This game was made for the Cemetech DoorsCS 7 contest.
It is currently completely finished.
I cannot provide a download link until the contest ends.
I can freely talk about it though.

The game should take ~30 minutes tops.

The game requires 14,900 bytes of free RAM. Only 14,150 bytes if you keep the Pic variable archived.

When I opened this topic, the first thing I did was CTRL+F search on "loli" without the quotes. When I saw no results, I was disappointed. :(

Also, I lost the game again.

But on a serious note I checked this on Cemetech and this looks great and I like the idea! I can't wait for September 15th to try it :)

Fine, I'll say it here :P
Nanami is a loli. She is 10 years old.

That looks really cool.

Glad you both think so!

Wow.... nice game! :D I hope to see this come out soon! ;)

Should be able to release it in little over a week! :D

On a related note, I updated the game a bit. Yumé v1.10 brings a hopeful fix for an odd xLIB graphical glitch that randomly cropped up, an event that was missing in the original version, and correctly positioned ending text (which was slightly mis-positioned in the original)

Yeah now that Cemetech contest is done it would be nice to have a download link, unless Kerm wants to wait until he posts them or something? I would like to play this when I get some time :)

I've decided to release both Yumé and Yumé 2: Rika's Story together so you'll have to wait until Rika's Story is finished before you can play the first one `-`

Your patience will be rewarded because the dual-release pack comes with tonnes of extra bonus goodies (I'm doubling the amount)

AAh ok I see. I hope you can finish them all.

Everything will be finished and ready to go by November :)
Sooner if I get enough 'no homework' days and feel motivated to work (my two biggest delays on the game are [1] homework and [2] feeling drained after finishing it all).

Development would go a lot faster if I had a TI-BASIC IDE `-`

Ah ok good to hear, I was worried about waiting for a year or something D:

Well good luck on development :)

Why would a TI-BASIC IDE help things?

I think he prefers to code on the computer, but the current BASIC editors won't suit his needs well (maybe he wants project management tools and the like)

Thanks, meishe91!

I can guarantee that the first two games will be out by November. It might be a good while between Yumé 2: Rika's Story and Yumé 3: Finality though. I'm probably going to take a break from the series to work on a couple of other quick and simple games and to work on some improved graphical skills. Maybe even try learning Axe or ASM again.

As for the IDE, I often find it tedious to scroll through a billion lines of code to edit one thing on calc. A computer-side IDE would make this process a lot faster and I'd actually be more likely to work on the games even when I'm exhausted.

AAah OK I see. Well good luck

As for IDE would SourceCoder works?

SourceCoder would work but it's dependent on an internet connection. I'd like something independent of the net so my programming could be mobile whether on-calc or on-comp.

Oh, you meant computer IDE for TI-BASIC :P I was thinking you meant something like LunarIDE and was like "Why on earth would that help?"

I gotcha, I know what you mean too. Have you tried Cooliojazz's TFE? I don't know the difference between an IDE and what that is, if there is any, just thought I'd put it out there since his seems to be working fine, with a few minor things when opening files.

I'll take a look into TFE. Considering it's Cooliojazz who made it, it HAS to be good. <insert "join the Squirrel Side of the Force" joke here>

:D :P

I think that could work, providing it's stable. Else losing data every few min would suck x.x

Ya, I haven't heard of any bugs while writing new programs, just when loading, and I think that's just displaying certain things.

[Necro Post]
For those wondering, I'm finally getting around to releasing Yumé 1 this weekend ^_^
It will come with bonus content. Expect a release Saturday or Sunday.

Finally! :D

I was worried when you stopped working on Yumé 2 that you would just eventually quit without ever releasing the first, like many people does with their game. :(

I'm glad to see you again on the forums too. It has been over 2 months since your last post and 4 since your second last post. O.O

I never quit! I just put stuff on hiatus for long amounts of time due to my massive procrastination skills :D

Lol :P, but I was still worried after seeing so many finished programs or close-to-finished ones fall into the void because their author left before actually releasing them. Usually they returned a year or two latter saying the project/game was lost in an hard drive failure. X.x

*ahem* I believe this has been long overdue `-`
Includes bonus content of a 900x900 pixel artwork and a 1600x900 pixel wallpaper. Should be the 1.11 version which should have all bugs fixed aside from xLIB's slight graphical retardations at times.

This is great! I'll have to try this asap. ;D

On a side note Omni now has a section where users can upload their own games if you want to put it here too. I think you should really put it on Cemetech too, though, because it was part of a contest there, after all. :P

Tried this game yesterday, and it was pretty good. Definitely one of my favorite xLib games.
And I loved the wallpaper enough to use it for the time being.
