Title: Wabbit not working...
Post by: Ki1o on November 16, 2012, 08:16:28 pm
Greetings. I recently downloaded Wabbit to my computer and I uploaded the ROM to it. The problem is, every time I turn it on, it just says RAM Cleared and it freezes; refusing to respond to any key presses. What's wrong?  :-\

So I'm guessing you are talking about wabbitemu.
How old is the rom? Did you just try to make the rom? Could you try running wabbitemu from the command line and see if it throws any errors?

I made this ROM a few days ago.  It worked fine with jsTIfied but it just doesn't work with Wabbit.

Try to download a ROM with wabbit 'using open source software'. Then try it again :3

Wabbit no longer supports any ROM that was dumped with Virtual TI or any other old software. If you don't get crashes or RAM clears, it will show some strange non-calc message in the screen after sending APPs or something.

The ROM was dumped with ROM8x. Would that be considered to be old software?

Possibly. Wabbit uses a custom boot page.

Anything released before December 2012.

But yeah this WabbitEmu issue has been present since last year or so. Beforehand, you could use any ROM you have with no problem, but sending Flash Apps was a major PITA.

This is not true, or at least it shouldn't be true.

ROM8x is definitely not old software, Wabbit uses it to help you dump ROMs itself. Wabbit doesn't use a custom bootpage unless you tell it to. Its preferred to use a bootpage you dumped through rom8x or other software.

Hello Ki1o,

Its a bug I created last version. I made a change to make keys more customizable for the 85 and 86, but they fail to register on your first run. I've fixed it but have a couple other bugs to fix before I can upload. There's an easy workaround however. Go to Calculator->Options->Keys from the drop down select emulator and hit reset all. Sorry for all the trouble, and let me know if you have any other issues.

No, ROM8X is moderately old. The thing that makes it great is the simplicity of the idea behind its operation, which gives it platform independence and maintainability.

Weird, for me all the ROMs that used to be hidden with nice Zelda screenshots in a folder somewhere stopped working in WabbitEmu around late 2011 or so, ending up with some weird message instead. ??? Unless that was fixed? I remember complaining about it often.

Sorry, but the workaround still didn't work. I downloaded the latest version and re-did the setup and I got the same result. Please help.

Ok so if that's not the issue then I'll need some more information about what you're doing. What type of ROM are you trying to emulate, how are you turning on the calc, what OS are you running this on, and when you open the debugger what line is the currently executing?

The ROM is a TI-84+ SE with 2.22 OS. I simply click the ON button (But I've also tried the Debug -> Turn on calculator method). In the debugger the line that is running is (forgive me if I mess up): 77 6D60 cb7f bit 7,a

Hello there, um I recently tried using Wabbit again but it still refuses to work for me.  It simply says RAM cleared and freezes. Please help.
