Title: b up
Post by: Deep Toaster on December 27, 2011, 07:36:56 pm
isup.me (http://isup.me) has always been a very useful tool, but I realized a few days ago (http://omniurl.tk/12033/) that what I really needed was something that tells me the status codes, for example to see what's getting redirected where and how.

I made b/up (http://clrhome.org/b/up/) to do exactly that—it takes a URL like isup.me, but instead of telling you if it's down or up, it keeps track of where it goes and tells you what's happening at each step. Hover over a step to show its status code, if you know what that is. For example, here's what omniurl.tk (http://clrhome.org/b/up/?u=omniurl.tk) looks like.

Nice tool :) Needs a shorter URL though.

Also why omniurl.tk doesn't redirect directly to the main page?

Interesting. I agree with the URL shorterning, though. :P

That's part of the reason I made this thing—to look into that. The problem is that http://omniurl.tk/ redirects to "omnimaga.org" instead of "http://omnimaga.org," which ends up sending your browser to http://omniurl.tk/omnimaga.org, which goes to http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?topic=omnimaga.org.

I might look at this if I have access, or else you would wait after Netham45 to fix it. He probably sent header("Location: omnimaga.org") instead of header("Location: http://omnimaga.org").

Also type "thegame" :P

At least it's shorter than downforeveryoneorjustme.com (the original URL of isup.me) :P

IIRC Deep stuff was hosted on 57o9 and most of it broke after moving away.

Yeah, this is due to different server environments and PHP versions. The tool still functions though. You just need to scroll to the bottom and you either get "and it loaded fine" or "and it didn't load".

Which is basically the same output as isup.me, what this is supposed to supersede :P
Used whydown for a bit, but it went down itself about a week after I found it >.< Not sure if there are any other similar sites floating around..

Ignore the PHP warning—it works fine despite the error message.

I'll get rid of the warning when I have time.

EDIT: flyingfisch said basically that, thanks :)
