Wow Eeems, that looks nice!  It's too bad you can't choose if you want to code for your calc though.

Yeah...also if you want to take a look at webshare just click on the php option on the homepage, and then click read.php it login.php then for the guest username and password, I believe it is username and password.
Edit: actually it's account and password

Very nice, although I don't seem to be able to login.  I don't see where I can type stuff.

How do we get an account and/or login?
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 03, 2010, 07:37:37 pm
You need to purchase them on Amazon or Ebay. Walmart sometimes has some

Oh! I get it now, the username is account ::)

Unfortunately I can't reply :(
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Eeems on January 03, 2010, 07:53:58 pm
lol, well I have to make them manually so far...but there is a guest account right now:
Username: account
Password: password

Yes it is case sensitive. If you want a fuller account I can make one for you as well.

well, i logged in using that, but when i tried to reply, it brought me back to the login?
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects

That's because it's a test account :p no posting allowed :p
I'll make you an account if you want though.

Nah, thats ok.  Not much to post on right now anyway :P

Lol, k :p well if you ever want to test it, let me know!

Edit: I may be moving to a different host (000webhost) due to the fact that I can't use the mail() command on freehostia...
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Eeems on January 04, 2010, 10:07:46 am
Well I can't use the mail() command, but I guess I don't care right now...I'll just make the register bring you to a new page with your login info and a link to the login page. I have made that but I haven't put the user appending to list part yet. I will later, because it doesn't take much (already have the framework to do this with my posting routine).

Edit: also I moved it's location to http://future_history.freehostia.com/webshare
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 04, 2010, 06:19:39 pm
I remember when I tried a forum on UTI host once (I think it was a TIMGUL install on IPB 1.3), mail() wouldn't work because it ran PHP in safe mode, and this caused email validation/admin validation spam protections to fail to send the e-mail. Auto-login did not work either, but I think it's unrelated.

Yeah...freehostia has it disabled entirely.

Sorry about the doublepost. I have finally made it dynamic, we can have more then one topic now to "blog" about. Also almost finished the front end! Just have to add some detection to it. Also registering is almost done.

Wow nice looking so far, but the link is still broken :(

I just get a blank page

Opera 10.10
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Eeems on January 05, 2010, 07:34:05 pm
hmm, try it in a different browser...also if you see anything wierd right now, I'm currently migrating the themes from one folder to another, so that is why
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Builderboy on January 05, 2010, 07:35:58 pm
Its working for me ^^.  But since i made that pose Eeems the display has messed up, and now it looks way different.  Like everything is text and links, and no cool dynamic images/buttons :(

EDIT: Ah, thats why they're weird :)
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects

You should ~try to make it opera compatible tho x.x

because I personally am not a big fan of Firefox, especially since it's very unstable on this computer and takes a long while to startup
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Eeems on January 05, 2010, 07:44:06 pm
well actually this is ipod orientated, but with a few modifications to make it computer compatable, so if it doesn't work on Opera, it's iWebkit's fault, not mine...check the page source and let me know if there is anything there
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 05, 2010, 07:53:50 pm
well i have no web dev experience so I couldnt tell what makes it not work in Opera x.x
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Eeems on January 05, 2010, 08:03:00 pm
Yeah..I have no expirience with opera...
If you right click on a page there should be an option, view page source, or something like that, is their anything in the file that opens if you do that?
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 05, 2010, 08:20:01 pm
yes I know, but why would I need to view the source if I have no clue what to change in it to make your site opera-compatible? I don't know that kind of programming well.
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Builderboy on January 05, 2010, 08:23:13 pm
Yeah, thats true XD Most likely the hostia-thing is whats preventing Opera compatibility :(
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: Eeems on January 05, 2010, 08:35:21 pm
Yeah, well it's in php, so changing the source won't fix anything, I just want to know if it's running into an error or if it just can't display anything.
I doubt it's freehostia's fault.
Hmm, I need to make an rss feed for most recent updates...but then of course I'd need to find a way to continually parse it...or to just have it update whenever someone writes a new post...I'll have to make that tomorrow...as well as user settings, creating topics, subforums, and working on the admin panel.

This is strange, because in Opera, while I see nothing but the favicon, the source code shows the page has stuff in it:

I checked it out, works fine on the most current version of fire fox. Will test Opera later to see if I have the same issues as DJ
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects

Hmm, strange...it might be the viewport settings...wierd...I'll look into it more
works fine on my ff, I haven't tried ie8 yet, but I guess I should test it.

Yeah, just thought I'd confirm that it works fine here too (I'm using Fire Fox).

Looking nice by the way, good job.

Ok, so firefox works fine. And I think chrome does too (does it TsukasaZX?) but not opera...no idea about ie or seamonkey yet.

@JCW: thanks! I've put a lot of work into it.

So yea, Opera fails for me too.

Hmm, strange...it might be a problem with the index page...I'll have to do some searching up on it.

I know some Linux users also uses Konqueror as web browser, I guess it might be something to check out too, altough someone who runs Linux would have to test it

I'Ll load Firefox then go beat Star Ocean First Departure. When Firefox finished starting up next month (this is how long it takes on this computer. Opera starts up in 5 seconds), I'll take a look again. Btw do people need to register to view how it looks like?

Lol, k :p
well you are already registered DJ, remember :p I gave it to you over irc, and you have admin powers.
I don't think you need to be registered. I can't remember if I fixed it.

Free hosts aren,t too reliable x.x

But again, some paid ones aren't either, for those who remember the Cemetech incident in 2007.
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: TIfanx1999 on January 10, 2010, 08:52:45 pm
Or UTI's, or Maxcoderz old forum for that matter.
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 10, 2010, 09:12:46 pm
Nah it is a totally different story.

AlienCC and Jbirk no longer had time to maintain UTI and decided it would be best if someone other than then hosted it I think. Weregoose now hosts the site. As for the old MC forums, it was hacked twice and the last time the hackers sent viruses to the hosting company and the company got pissed at MC admin and shutted down the hosting.

Cemetech host, called Jatol, simply completly vanished without any warning, no news regarding its shut down, taking every hosted websites with it.

Post by: TIfanx1999 on January 10, 2010, 09:21:52 pm
I just meant the downtime each of them had. I didn't realize cemetech's old host just vanished without a trace. :o That's horrible!
Title: Re: Eeems - Side Projects
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 10, 2010, 09:46:36 pm
Yeah it was terrible. Plus they lost like 5000 posts I think and took a while to be active again. They had data loss 2 years earlier too but on another host that got hacked. I believe between that they had another db problem that caused all old posts to be corrupt

Cemetech would be at 105000 posts now if it wasn't for all deleted stuff

I have renamed it to ipodshare
Ok I am releasing a beta package
here are a list of features
Please let me know about any bugs :)
also while the pages for password changing exist, please don't try, for some reason it doesn't work...:/
to install, just unzip the file to your server, and register, then edit users/users.data and change level to 3 to create your admin account.

also it's in 7zip format
