Google's new navigation
« on: December 09, 2011, 10:54:25 am »
Howdy.

Google just changed their navigation technique. Go to http://google.com/ to check it out!

Tell us how you like it!

Spoiler For IMPORTANT NEWS!:
Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

Nope, not that. I'm taking about the google.com hover-your-mouse-over-the-google-logo nav.

Yes, that's what the video is showcasing. Personally, I think it's not the right move for Google. What they need is to combine that dropdown menu with the navigation bar they already have. Low profile + Accessibility + Easier Navigation.

Thats what i was thinking. and with making users hover over google logo, they are running the risk of having a Mad Meat Navigation.

I don't like it.  i prefer it as a simple toobar on the top.  I liked google even better when the navbar only showed up if you moved your mouse over it.

I kinda prefer how it is right now (since the past month or so at least) for me, although I am still kinda used to how it was around 2004. :P

It seems pretty cool, but not very practical.  I'm not sure what this layout has over the older layout other then that it has icons (and takes up more space :P)

btw clicking "search" goes to the old design.

Everythinng just looks the same to me. Hovering over the google logo just displays the alt text 'google'. Also, that grey bar is still at the top of the screen.
