Well I've been trying to set up a site with a iPod touch friendly forum kit I got online. I'm having some problems, but I was wondering what people thought. Would an iPod touch friendly forum site be good? Or should we try and find an iPod friendly skin for omnimaga?
-
hmm both cause it would help with the psp for when im stuck using it
-
That sounds like a good idea. I vote for a friendly skin.
-
well I looked for a skin and I cant seem to find one...but I don't know, if I did some research I could make one myself....I have a iWebKit that I could use for it...maybe I will
-
I am a bit against multiple Omnimaga forum skins, because when we want to update the navbar or install certain mods, then we're stuck having to modify both skins at once all the time, which takes a long while. Also I myself had so much trouble editing that skin that I had to ask help from tr1p1ea to edit some stuff
-
ah ok...I was just thinking that it would be nice to have support for ipod touch users...I could help whenever you needed the skin changed
-
Actually, there is a SMF mod that enables Lo-Fi version like on UTI at the bottom so it is easier to read by search engines and lower resolutions. The only issue with that though is that the board becomes in read-only mode when you go in this mode.
-
well I have started work on an iPhone/iTouch friendly SMF theme that is specific to Omnimaga, there is currently a theme out there that is iPhone/iTouch friendly but not specific to Omnimaga, so I am modifying that theme to look like ours. more info to come as I get ready to upload it
EDIT: also it looks like the theme will auto switch if it detects an iPhone/iTouch, so you don't have to set it yourself
-
sounds like a great idea man! This site's a pain to go through with the iPhone, cuz its so large! Let me know when it'll be ready, or will it just automatically show up as default?
-
EDIT: also it looks like the theme will auto switch if it detects an iPhone/iTouch, so you don't have to set it yourself
^^
-
Nice! I can't wait to see it.
-
It may take a while to make it considerably omnimaga enough :p
-
solution: browse the forums from a real computer like how it should be :P
I agree this might be problematic for people with limited computer access, though...
-
well we dont want to risk omnimgaga as the testing platform you gonna make a alternate copy of omni to test with or somthing???
-
I don't know, and I don't think it should be that dangerious at all...unless we do a bunch of deleting x.x
-
Omni should be fine regardless of if a new skin is added or not. You just need to make sure to not accidentally edit the two alerady installed skins (the default SMF skin, disabled, and the Omnimaga one) instead of yours
The other hard part is keeping the new skin in sync with the default Omnimaga skin afterward (read: mods and navbar)
-
Hopefully this will come in handy if(when :P) i win the iPot touch in the Greenfoot contest ^^.
-
yeah it should be easy
there is one mod that needs to be added for the automatic detect, and I don't know if it's going to be fully compatible with everything, but it should make the forum easier
EDIT: Also DJ, Here is the Mod with the Omnimaga Banner resized to fit. You can take a look if you want
-
cool, is it finished yet? I might take a look later
-
Actually no, it's hardly touched, but the banner is in
-
er
I think you meant to reply to another topic then switched to another but forgot you did the later and posted anyway :P
that happened to me before, though
EDIT: nvm fixed
I am tempted to wait a bit, because sometimes reinstalling skin updates is a PITA x.x
-
Lol, yeah :p ah ok, well most of my changes will be pictures but I might have to make a few code changes.
