Title: Joomla - Worth it to use?
Post by: ZippyDee on April 14, 2011, 07:56:55 pm
I was told a bit about Joomla, and I don't really understand most of the explanations I've found across the web as to what EXACTLY it does for you. What DOES it do? Is it worth it to pick up?

Isn't Joomla some sort of site CMS (content management system) like what TI-BANK uses for their site? It is generally useful if you want to create a website with a download section and news comments but don't feel like coding all of it yourself.

Yeah, it's a CMS, but I want to know more about it. Does it function similar to dreamweaver in that you can just place/input content and it generates and saves the HTML? Does it manage layout and design? I really know nothing about it other than the fact that it's a CMS and it's so high-level that it's annoying :P

I think you just download a bunch of files, follow instructions and upload stuff on a FTP folder then install. It's kinda like what we use for Omnimaga, except that it's not forum-based from what I can gather.
