Interesting. That is pretty nifty for me; hopefully I can get through the secondaries! Also, should I vote for my own program/vote at all?

If the game you enjoy the most is yours then vote for your entry. I tend to like things others make better than my own creations.

Could you put the full ranking and not only the first three please ?

That, and also maybe the points you gave according to the rubric, because I understand why Piko Piko and JezBall are here, but Tip Over is as addictive as Cut The Rope, which means you can't let it down for an hour and then you finish it and then it has zero replay value (you already know the solution to the levels).

You can make custom level packs :D The structure of the appvar is pretty straightforward. Because I ran out of time there is no built in level editor, but I will release one if people are interested in making their own level packs.

Alright I voted :D I felt like it was cheating voting for my own game, so I voted for *insert who I voted for here* ^^'

to be honest, I was surprised that the judge results were published before the end of the public vote. I decided to not bother paying attention to the judge results until I'm done testing every program, to avoid risking being biased or something.

Yeah, I've been surprised too by the judge results being available before the public vote, and only for the first three ones.

No i wont not until the conteset is over then i will release the full scores i did the first 3 to show everyone how the contest was going your votes will change the rankings it was only done to get a hint of what it was looking like. have fun voting!

That is exactly the problem. People will be like "oh, Tip Over is the best ? I'll try this one first", spend 15 minutes on it, then think "owait, there were others" but won't spend 15 minutes on each because they will be tired of testing. So their vote will be biased.

eh i thought it was the right thing todo, whats done is done. and based on the current return its clearly not going based off what you have tried to dictate so :P lets see what happens!

Note that the judges results are affected by scorings, so just because a game got an high score doesn't mean you'll like it enough to vote for it. Hence why it's still a good idea to play them. I remember that during past contests, our judging was a lot different than the public vote results.

Of course, you can't remove the judge rankings for the first three entries now. :)
But you could release the rest of the entries rankings.

In my opinion, it's not very fair to have a ranking hint for some of the entries and not all of them before the public vote.

I almost played trough all of the games. Wargames and toywars don't work for me though. Perhaps there is something in the readme I missed.
Title: Re: Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Public Vote
Post by: Matrefeytontias on December 01, 2013, 01:28:20 pm
I also played all the games (excepting Toy Wars), but it's Jezzball that freezes at the homescreen for me.

Also, Wargames isn't a game. It's 5 Disp( commands. Literally.

PLease test jezzball on calc it works on hardware but not in the latest wabbit emu! I had this same issue during grading. Its a emulator bug not a GAME BUG!

Post by: Matrefeytontias on December 01, 2013, 04:08:50 pm
I can't test it on-calc, it needs DCS... I have 26kb of archive, and everything that could have been removed had been removed.

I tried, and jsTIfied just invented fractions of FPS on my PC <_< seems that I'll download it and test it on the calc on a friend of mine.
Title: Re: Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Public Vote
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 01, 2013, 05:43:59 pm
Yeah jsTIfied requires a quantum computer to run at normal speed, although it isn't that bad for me in Opera when I don't load too many files. In Firefox it's another story, though. Definitively the most accurate emu, tho, as well as TilEm I guess, else just grab an older version of WabbitEmu from Early 2012 that actually works or use a real calc. :P

It's there it's the one with the really long name.  I'll rename all the zips once I'm back on my pc

EDIT:
Done!

Toy Wars needs to be unarchived, and you need to send ALL the files. Run the one without a theta before the name, and generate a map (first menu item) before playing it.
Title: Re: Re: Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Public Vote
Post by: Geekboy1011 on December 01, 2013, 08:24:17 pm
And edit the map if you don't have a pic1 that was a big bug we found
Title: Re: Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Public Vote
Post by: TIfanx1999 on December 01, 2013, 11:45:43 pm
Yea, IIRC Toywars didn't initialize some variables. It should work fine afterwards though.
Title: Re: Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Public Vote
Post by: willrandship on December 02, 2013, 01:05:29 am
Any Pic1 would do, IIRC.
Title: Re: Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots - Public Vote
Post by: Geekboy1011 on December 02, 2013, 01:07:26 am
Yeah any pic1 will work it just has to be initialized which was kinda annoying as it wasn't documented. But I saw how it was a development oversite. So for me it was no big deal at least

The funny thing is, I did test a fresh install on an emulator. I just apparently always Edited the map first. :\

Sorry about that.

@Willrandship: Also, I had some strings that already existed and were archived. That messed with the program as well.

You got that a bit mixed up. These games are for the 83/84+. Not for the new color model which is called the ti84+C SE

Given that he spammed the forums twice a few days ago, I don't think he really had the intention to contribute in a positive and serious manner, so seeing TI-82 Pocket.Fr C Titanium instead wouldn't have surprised me (but again, that's totally something TI would do <_<)

Anyway, I am trying all entries right now. A lot are amazing and fun, so it's gonna be hard to vote. >.<

I know it's been a while, but i can't find a copy of my Digger game anymore and i've been thinking of playing around with it again. The Dropbox folder in post one has been blocked, does anyone know if someone still has access to it? It'd be nice to at least disassemble it to have something to work off of.
