Karma usually decreases if someone's post is judged unnecessary and increases if it's really helpful. In most cases, negative reputation (the total of all the ratings on each of your posts, keeping in mind that posts in the randomness section cannot be rated) will not last long if the person posts a lot.

If Youtube had such thing, I wouldn,t be surprised if some people had >9000 or <-9000 reputation alerady.
In case you are wondering where I went, I left Omni back in 2015 to form CodeWalrus due to various reasons explained back then, but I stopped calc dev in 2016 and am now mostly active on the CW Discord server at https://discord.gg/cuZcfcF
