If that hurts your head you should look at some of mc Escher work.

actually it doesn't really hurt mine. I think I remember seeing some similar stuff somewhere before. That got me thinking, tho, about if a calculator game with perspective such as the first image would be easy to make with xLIB/Celtic?

Wasn't someone doing that a really long time ago or something. For some reason I recall that someone was making an isometric game.

Cyan, from MaxCoderz attempted a FFT game in 2002-2003, I remember seeing some screenshots, but it never got very further than a map engine showing a isometric square grid. Benryves attempted a marble madness clone but never finished it. Then JFISH was gonna make an isometric tilemapper for his RPG but he vanished. However they were all Mario RPG style isometric, not like Cooliojazz pictures (horizontal side + diagonal side instead of both sides diagonal)
