[Android] zCraft Nightmare Survival
« on: November 02, 2014, 05:44:14 pm »
Just been messing with the Unity game engine (I was building my own but thought I would check theirs out) this passed week and came up with a Minecraft inspired survival shooter minigame (sort of inline with Halloween) as mentioned below.

Its on the play store but it could use some testing, I am worried about particles on some chipsets.

Its pretty simple, you just need to survive for as long as possible killing as many enemies as you can.

Here is a video and play store link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tr1p1ea.zcraft.halloween.survival.free

Let me know what you think! Happy to take any ideas on board.

Note that there is an advertisement in this game that only shows when you are dead. Im happy to send through an ad-less apk for anyone who wants.

Enjoy.

I like how this looks like and the zombie theme. It reminds me another game I played once, except yours has maps and is isometric. Also I like how it looks like Minecraft :P

EDIT: Ok just tried it now and awesome work so far. I like the achievements and online features. Difficulty seems pretty fine and while controls takes a bit to get used to (to aim in particular), they're pretty intuitive I think. The only loading issues I got was when selecting stuff in menus, where it sometimes took 3-4 seconds to load on my nexus, but frame rate during gameplay is fine.

As suggestion, though, you might want to make sure you won't run into copyright issues with the Minecraft graphics if you ever decide to sell the game, in case the new Minecraft authors and owners are like Notch when it comes to re-using his graphics.

In case you are wondering where I went, I am still active in the TI community, but I left Omni back in 2015 for various  reasons. I might come back one day, depending of certain circumstances, but my new online home (despite me being Omnimaga founder in 2001) is now CodeWalrus ( https://codewalr.us ). Sorry for the inconveniences.

Thanks for testing man!

Yeah all the texture/models/animations etc are custom made so i'm not using any assets from Minecraft - though they do look similar. Hopefully they deviate enough for them to find it acceptable.

Ah ok that's good to hear. I wasn't too sure since some looked similar and I didn't play Minecraft in ages. The main issue is if you use them exactly how they are, which is why most Minecraft clones uses slightly different textures that still look very close to Minecraft.

By the way, can we jump?

Yeah I was wondering about that too. If they are not randomly generated, maybe some extra levels could be added, since it looks like in certain levels you got places to hide until it gets out of control and perhaps power ups such as new weapons. :)
